I got the first book from the library, finished it the same day. I went back to get the second book, and the librarian laughed cause he's like, damn did you already finish the first one that you got this morning. I said yeah, and wanted the second one, but it wasn't there. I torrented the second book, but I couldn't stand reading it on a computer screen. I just couldn't, and I could not wait for the book to return to the library(I had to wait 5 days). I automatically went to Barnes&Nobles and bought myself the trilogy for $40, and I can say, money well spent.

I'd say it can compete with the Harry Potter series in my opinion.

Anyone have any recommendations for another series? I'm looking for books like Hunger Games and Harry Potter, where there's a lot of good action, suspense, build-up, and movies are coming out, cause you know that when a movie is released for a book, that book must be good.

My sister told me to read Divergent is a good series, so I'm probably going to pick up the first book and see where it takes me.

I honestly have never read any of the Harry Potter books... And I'm contemplating it.

However, with Hunger Games, it was a very good trilogy and I enjoyed reading it very much (rather quickly, too).

As for recommendations, I'm a big fan of classic american literature so I can't help you out.

But thank you for reminding me about Harry Potter... I think I'll go check the first one out today.

Are the movies doing a good job on following the books?
I know when it comes to superhero movies, they never follow the comics.

I'd say they're doing a pretty good job at accurately following the books, but of course they can't fit all those pages of little details into a movie (even though we all wish they could).

When you're reading the book, you pay attention to every little detail (at least for me), and you'll notice that some things are definitely not put in the movie that are in the book, even if the small things are of little significance.

When I was 12/13 my parent purchase me the very first Cherub book, called "The Recruit".
I personally found the entire series very entertaining, and as I am typing this, I am really tempted to read the series all over again. You really get drawn in to all the characters, and sometimes, I used to pretend I was one of them. (Embarrassing, I know, but it made me enjoy it.)

If you want to read a preview chapter to see if it's your type of book, click You must login or register to view this content. to read a sample from "The Recruit".

However, if that isn't your type of book, I recommend (although not a series, but still an amazing read nonetheless) The Great Gatsby.
In my opinion, the film is better than the book (Only because of Leonardo diCaprio plays Gatsby - who still doesn't have an oscar :?Smile but still worth the read. (although the grammar in some parts is very... "dated").

I'll give the Hunger Games trilogy a read, same for Harry Potter. As I enjoyed the films from both series. Smile

I read the trilogy lately also, it was such a great read. But regarding your question, I've really enjoyed reading the 4 Sherlock Holmes novels, they're pretty short, but interesting so it makes up for the shortness. Another series of books that I've heard is great is Game of Thrones
