I'm not very good at explaining math too others so sorry if this doesn't make sense.
You're basically writing an equation like
A(x)+B(y-x)=C but in this scenario it'll be
.12(x) +.08(6000-x)=540
First off you know the
total he earned which is
540 so that is your
C
Second is that
part of the investment was
8% which is your
B and the
Rest 12% which is your
A because it is
a major part of the investment.
Finally
Y is $6000 ( You can change to what ever variable like X,Y,Z,B etc doesn't matter as long as it's just a place holder)
