Post: The last 17 years of my life

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Today I turned 17 and it feels strange. I can't really explain it. I mean I still feel like a kid, in some ways, but for the first time on my birthday, I feel older. I even feel a bit more mature. My Mom offered to let me skip school today and I feel like yesterday I would have said yes, but I said no today. It just seems strange how it was like all it took was one 8 hour nap and boom, its like I'm a different person. Lol. Reading this over I realize I'm just rambling on. In the last few weeks I've been remembering things I thought I forgot. Those things being hanging out with my friends who used to live in my neighborhood, memories of my ex-gf and the nights we spent falling asleep together. Its just really weird how its all happening at once. I really find it hard to explain. I find myself wishing I could be younger again, to relive all those memories. I never really fully understood when my parents said "It goes so fast, slow down and enjoy it." Although I did enjoy it, I wish I could do it over again ya know? I have had a song stuck in my head as of late and it describes how I feel almost perfectly.

Have you guys ever experienced something like this? A point in time where you just seem to have changed? Like becoming a different person? It'd be interesting to hear your thoughts and maybe they'll help me understand what I'm trying to say.

It's called nostalgia.

I'm 19 now and I quite often wish it'd be like 2009 again, can't believe that was 5 years ago. Time really flies by quickly.

When I was like 14, I always wished I was like 21. Now that I just turned 20 on the 25th, I really do wish I can go back in time and re-do a lot of stuff. Like asking out the girl of my dreams when i was a sophomore in high school, doing better in school instead of getting C's and D's and barely graduating. When you're 14, it really is the best days of your life because you dont have any responsibilities except for school, that's it. Kids dont realize that these days.

Once your out of school though, shit gets real and you sometimes do wish you can go back. All I can say is, make the best of it before you regret a lot of it later on in life. This might be a cliche but, life's to short for regrets. Stay in school and actually try because if you dont, it will come back and bite you in the ass later on down the road.

May I ask why you have "2/20/14" in your user title?

16 huh? Damn, when I was 16, I was a complete idiot. LOL! I was that kid in school that everyone loved and shit but didn't give a flying fuck about school. I seriously went to school and didn't do anything. I just sat there in class all day, every day. Then my junior year of HS came around and I realized how bad I fucked up. I'm telling you man, if you're not trying in school, I dont know what you're doing. Id do anything to have one more chance to re-live high school. As much as I HATED high school, I'd re-do it to get myself into a good university.

Point is though dude, live your life while your still young. Just enjoy it man.

The school incidence happened to me as well today, but the only difference is that I'm 15.

It snowed crazily last night so my mom was telling me that I didn't need to go to school but I thought I'd miss out on school work so I said I'd go. If I was still in middle school, I would have been the happiest guy ever and said "Ok, thanks mom!". I guess high school changes you a lot.
