As per usual I see people on the internet (Mostly Americans, no offence) call it "St.Patty's Day". It is not called that it is known as "Paddy's Day" which in fact is short for Patrick.

I learned from my teacher that back then, there were irish slaves that were called Paddy. There isn't any real meaning of it but it's racist to call a Irish a paddy. It's like calling someone a negroe but there isn't any meaning on it but just another word for blacks but it is racist.

I never heard that before :p But I've3 or 4 friends called Paddy so I dunno
