(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hello all,
I'll start off with a brief mention that I turned 17 yesterday (unfortunately there's no cake...) and I received some driving lessons as a "main present".

Now, today I had my first lesson EVER and I was so anxious and nervous and just had so many thoughts racing through my mind. It was my first time in the drivers seat and after my instructor explained how the car works (which I already knew but I thought I'd be kind and listen just in case I was incorrect about anything) and I set off.

I did great. The only issue was the braking. I didn't press hard enough when I was supposed to, I'd always be gentle because I hate the feeling of whiplash and stuff, but the instructor was fine with that because he said as the lessons progress, I'll "get to know the brakes more better".

Now the point of this thread is I wanted to ask people that currently drive or those that are learning, no matter where in the world you are... What was the easiest part of learning to drive and what was the hardest part of learning to drive? I'm just curious as to how different/similar I am to other learners.

Thank you for any participation, it means a lot.

The hardest part I found at first was changing down gears when coming to corners. Going from 1st to 2nd while moving off and about to turn a corner was also difficult at first but by lesson 3 it was all good.

Easiest part, starting the car lol.
Hardest part for me was turning; finding the correct speed and slowing down, turning the wheel fully and moving your hands on it lol.
Driving is different for everyone!
Don't worry, you'll learn fully soon enough like everyone else.

Best thing would be to drive somthing fast because it will either scare the shit out of you and you will drive so or u will crave the speed

No, the instructor literally introduced me to the car and allowed me to drive on the road with other traffic. He felt like I needed to see that actually there was nothing to be afraid of. But every time I had to change down a fear etc, I'd panic or forget to press the clutch.. Just silly little things that I will (hopefully) learn to control :P

I think the easiest part was driving a stick shift, no matter what people tell you, they're really not that hard.

Hardest: coasting in neutral, forgetting you have it in neutral, and hitting 4k rpm easily lol.

I have a few cars, figured I could give some stick shift advice.

Easiest was driving, hardest was clutch control and getting the confidence to drive and knowing when you can make a gap in traffic and when you can't, or when you can go straight through at a roundabout or when you can't, but the right mindset only comes with time and experience spent driving after a few months of driving alone, I was fine.

Hardest part about driving is resisting the urge to flip off stupid fucks who can't drive worth shit.

On a serious note tho, paying attention to my surroundings was probably my biggest problem. In the beginning there where often times where I didn't see what I should have seen and that resulted in a few "near misses". :p

Easiest? Meh, probably the basics. Work the clutch and gas, get to know the grab points of all three pedals, steer and keep the car on the road. Driving isn't science and with a bit of practice it works out great! Smile

Coasting in neutral, I've never understood why people do that?
