i was high when i made that statement about orbit, The sun doesnt have as much of an effect of the tides as the moon does but the earth wouldnt instantly flood, if anything the water wouldnt be froze before it had the chance to flood everything. After 1 week without the sun, the average temperature of Earth would be freezing, so unless this happened really fucking fast, it wouldnt happen

I wouldn't wanna live in a world without a sun. Just not worth it. Too much trouble, lol. We can produce artificial heat, but eventually it would just get to be too cold, and as the ocean froze more and more, we'd slowly get pushed down until our bodies/the machines we are living in buckle under the pressure and death would be quick. Also without the sun, earth would drift off into space, and there would be a good chance things would hit the earth and kill us that way.
