8 years ago, I found out about Linkin Park (through the songs: "One Step Closer" and "Faint"). I couldn't stand the yelling and rhythm. I then found the song, "What I've Done", and slowly got into the band. From there, I became a really big LP fan, and progressed into listening to other bands, such as RED, Sum 41, Breaking Benjamin, Skillet, 30 Seconds To Mars, Simple Plan, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Bullet For My Valentine, etc. It's easier to convert someone to pop than it is to metal, in my opinion, unless they're already a rocker in the first place. The only things I've listened to that are considered metal are things like "Psychosocial" by Slipknot, and "Seize the Day" by Avenged Sevenfold. I guess BFMV is heavy metal, and I love that band, so meh... :/

Metal isn't for me, I'm not into the screaming and shit (if this is the genre you are talking about). I like classical rock, rock, some hip-hop and a little bit of that wacky dubstep.

Metal's scary as fuck, just hearing them scream and shit. A bit too loud for my taste...
