Both are great man. Really it just depends on what you want to do in the military. Any branch is something to be proud of and if you are dedicated enough, they can turn into great careers.

Whatever you decide, thank you for your service, it means a lot to our country! Happy

Dude , just follow your heart. That is all. You don't need our thoughts on this. Either way, you'll still make a great choice Smile

But if I were you, I'd do the Marine.

Even though he's from the United Kingdom, he can still enlist into the United States Armed Forces. He just has to apply for a green card.

OP, personally, I would become a Marine. I just feel that the Army isn't the same as it used to be. Senior leadership just isn't there for me. What attracted me to the Marine Corps was the tradition, and the legacy of the Corps. Come 10 November, our Marine Corps will be celebrating 240 years of service to our great nation. Know that when you become a Marine, you'll be joining a brotherhood, and the worlds finest fighting force.

Assuming you're thinking about the United States Marine Corps over the Royal Marines. :p

well i have done various fighting things over my years like mma kickboxing boxing etc i know marines is tought etc so id need to train hard on working towards it as i have put abit of weight on from doing nothing lol

Go with marines. Career wise go army. But the United State Marine Corp is the baddest mother fuckers. Even though there are pussies in each. But get respect for serving the country.

First of all, thanks for serving our country! Basically it depends on what you want to do. If I was you I would pick the Army. The Marine Corps doesn't really give you a choice of what you want to do, they pretty much just tell you what you are going to do. Two of my friends enlisted about two years ago and both wanted to be infantrymen, but they told them that they don't need infantry so they made one of them a plane mechanic, and the other a cook. On the other hand you have the Army, which still lets you pick what you want to do in most cases. If you want to drive tanks you can drive tanks, if you want to be infantry you can be infantry. Certain jobs do require a certain ASVAB score, but most of the time you can do pretty much anything you want.

P.S. Why not Navy?

To an extent you can still pull out an 03 contract in the Marines. There are several factors that play into whether you get it or not. Since the Marine Corps is undergoing a downsize the infantry contract allocations were cut. However, if you tell the recruiter that you want a guaranteed 03 contract they'll try and work with you, but you also have to be firm about it. As in, constantly staying in contact with the recruiter. Another thing is it's best to wait. Say you talk to the recruiter during the summer, come the start of the new fiscal year all the allocations get freed up.

If you don't manage to get one then, you'll probably just have to wait longer. The only downside is you can only remain in the DEP for 365 days. After that you're completely SOL.

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm just saying that the Army isn't really downsizing anything as of right now so if you are looking to do something specific, I would go Army.

Yeah. As much as I hate to say it, but if you're looking for a specific job, and a potential career in that field, then the Army is definitely going to be there for you. Another thing is that their gear is going to be newer, and better. The stories of the Marine Corps M9 hand downs are all true, and they will continue to exist. tears
