(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Okay so I am a lightweight weighing in at like 156 and I can flux to welter. Well I would love to remain stable at welter so well since I am very busy and its junior year I am looking to invest into an at home gym because I want to work out but I am busy and Ill use some money I have know plus my christmas cash, no video games this year I REALLY want sirius stuff. Yes I already know about p90x and its not exactly what I am talking about, yes I understand it works as I know coaches at my school use it but you have to keep with an actual schedule and I rather have an at home gym such as the tower 200(what I am looking into) I am also 16.

Okay so of course I have some questions & concerns as I am sure some people here have to like to workout or have something like these at their house.

Questions.

1. What one would you recremmend to a 16 year old my size, and why? Now when you mention an at home gym please keep in mind cost, and of course SIZE, that is probly the two MOST important things as well I live in a big family and I dont have lots of $$$$(well not like high hundreds, maybe)

2. Cost, how much is it?

3. Does it give a GOOD at home work out, to keep me in fighter shape for my age without going body builder crazy and well is it worth the time?

Concerns

1. Okay some of ya'll know my parents are sorta.. Well my concern is with them. This is something I REALLY want and well whenever you see these commcericals for these contraptions, some look too good etc and well they make it seemed like its for people who want to get super ripped. I dont think its really marketed to people my age who are like 16 but really the tower 200 is basically 200 exercises that are on my door and really what I would do at school with my coaches or at a gym, I just dont think my parents dont want me to get too buff but I would like to be stronger for when I start fighting up again in the summer. So really its basically what I would lift in gym class at school, not really different.

2. Cost $$$$ not sure, it says its like $15 to try it(tower200) but really how much are these things to fully own as I never brought one?

Well please remain on topic and discuss this as I would like to know what people think that have used the tower 200 or any other at home gym system, really I am looking at the tower 200 as it seems reasonable and well its small and gives a good work out. Give your ideas and opinions about at home work outs and also how I could settle getting one of these with my parents?

Thanks!

At least I can fight
I also say get a bowflex. I am a p90x guy and love it even though i don't stay on the meal plan it is insane! But a bowflex would be your best bet IMO. You should get a job if you do not have one already and just make the monthly payments. its only 20 mins a day for 4 days a week or something like that. It is good for keeping in shape.

Yeah but a bowflex is big and bulky and I am pretty sure it uses restraints and not actual weights. But look up Tower 200 as that looks promising, would probly work well as bowflex is big from what I remember when they came out as I was only like 13 and I wasnt that sirius about getting big(I was doing martial arts even before I was 13) but that was never a concern.

Though if anybody knows anything about the tower 200 it would be great.

Oh gawd.

Alright this is an area where I can definately help, and so far I'm not liking what i'm seeing...

Firstly, dont get a bowflex, it's trash and doesn't give you great workouts, as well as being restricted. And it's super over priced.
Instead, all you need is a power rack, flat bench, barbell, dumbells and weights. This will give you a HUGE range of exercises to do, go do some reading for many of these.
Look up bodysolid, they make quality power racks. It's not too expensive, and try and save cash by getting 2nd hand weights.
And don't buy it from your local sports shop that sell the bowflex's and crap, get a proper power rack and bench.

Secondly, the dude you saw in the Bowflex ads, didn't get ripped/swole from using a bowflex.

Thirdly, you are NOT gonna get 'buff' or 'ripped' overnight. You don't pick up a dumbell, then suddenly go, holy shit I gained too much muscle!!... it takes months for progress, years for great results. And you need to be getting a calory surplus with plenty of carbs and proteins.

My advice: Do a few weeks research before you make such a large investment, and get equipment that will last you. All you need now is freeweights (what i said before) and you can train your whole body. And if you somehow convince yourself that you are becoming 'too buff' then you can cut down on the calories, or the intensity to stop gaining, but keep your progress. But that won't happen, the only way ur gonna wanna keep ur weight down is for wrestling, but even then, if u keep growing then your naturally gonna increase in weight anyway, so you may want/need to step up a weight bracket.

lemme know if u got questions. hope this helped.... took me a fair time to write, Happy

Honestly, you don't need any special equipment. Just do it old school, some dumbbells and a pull up bar. You can do so much with those two things. I'm pretty skinny for my age only 130 pounds but I've been looking into working out a little, not to be like a pro builder but to put on some muscle.

Bodypart Exercise Number sets Number reps
chest pushups 3 8-15
dumbbell flys 3 8-15
dumbbell press 3 8-15
lats pullups 3 8-15
dumbbell rows 3 8-15
abs crunches 3 8-15
biceps sofa curls 3 8-15
triceps dumbbell french press 3 8-15

That's a good workout, I reccomend buying some wheat protein and make a bottle of shake out of it per workout drink a little bit before you start then drink the rest during the workout. And if you want you can make another one and drink it after your workout. I don't recommend taking any supplements before atleast 20 because it can stunt your growth.

  1. eat 5-6 small, well balanced meals a day each with 15-25g protein
  2. eat lots of veggies
  3. eat less than 10% of your calories from fat
  4. eat only whole grain carbs - no sweeteners or white flour products

I found that article interesting but I really wonder if a combination of 2 supplements can speed up muscle growth that fast, I have that bookmarked and I'll be sure to try it when I'm a bit older xD.

That's the workout I posted before if you're wondering how to do any of the exercises.

Hope you like my post lol =D

yeah so I might go with the dumbbells but my mom doesn't really like those which is a problem. I was looking into bodylastics which are $50 for the whole set and from people at the top str training sites say they work. It would basically be the same of the tower 200 except cheaper. And I KNOW how this diet shit works I aint new, I am simply asking what is the BEST at home str training workout, not diet so dont waste your time with that.

Don't buy a bowflex! I had one for 3 years along with a nice rack of adjustable dumbells and some cheap benches....and honestly, I hardly ever used the bowflex. I say stick to free weights and a pull up bar. - reccomend the dumbells with the clips on the end so all you gotta do is slide plates on and make them as heavy as you want...a nice bench is about 100-200 dollars on amazon, a pull-up bar is about 10, and dumbell sets are 50 bucks at most. PS: you won't get super buff overnight lol
