(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I just want a nice discussion as to why you do or don't play on PC.

Here's some of questions that may help with the discussion:

  • Are you not interested in playing PC?
  • Are your worried about the cost?
  • Do you dislike using a controller?
  • Do your friends use one platform more?

Please do not focus your response on just these questions alone, please expand and give some input! Smile

I'm worried about the cost.
I know you're gonna say it's worth it, but I kinda fill the same way Outie does. I've never really taken the time to think about building a PC. I really would love to have a PC to play games on, but it's just so expensive. lol Got a lot of stuff to pay for at the moment, and can't really afford one. However, I did just buy a new laptop for myself, and I love it very much. It's super fast, can run some small games, and is dependable.

When I boot it up for the first time, I was like "Well, I guess I'll look over here while I'm waiting on it........Oh, time to log in already? WOW!" lol

oooo! I love the new computer feel!

As for price, I understand it can feel like a big bit of money, i felt it myself when i got my PC. If you put it into this perspective the investment may seem better (maybe not in your case as you just bought a new laptop). A PC can be used as a normal desktop or for gaming from. In this sense, it's a 'game console' and 'laptop' put into one machine. When you add the prices of these together, the price of the PC seems more understandable.

As for the hardware side I understand it can be daunting if you have little to no knowledge about computers. As much as people dislike, you can always get a pre-built machines. You could also ask a friend to build it or possibly learn yourself! (tons of resources available online). Websites like reddit and youtube provide a lot of help. Members on NGU will be willing to help if you ask.

I just want to make it clear, I'm not trying to talk you into getting a PC, just having a discussion Smile

I have never taken the time of day to try and learn anything about how a computer's hardware is calculated, or about building one myself, so I stuck to consoles. But having the ability to switch between PC/game so seamlessly really does make a lot more sense to me. If i had someone else to show me the way maybe I'd have a beast setup, but alas. I'm not much of a troubleshooter on my own and never seemed to grasp the concept of PC hardware. I break things more often than fixing them.

- Not really worried about the cost :carling:

- Use the PS3 controller on PC

I love playing on the PC, and the cost isn't that big of a factor to me, you can't build yourself a decent PC that costs just as much as a next gen console with better specs. I have used a controller when playing on pc, but for me I just like sticking to my keyboard and mouse. My IRL friends mostly play on consoles, so I do have a PS4 to play with them, but when I feel like being a :fa: I play on pc.

1. I've always been interested in PC. I got introduced into PC Gaming sometime in 2010 and wanted a rig.
2. This year I finally built my rig, spent 1800$ on it and love it.
3. Depends on the game, some games don't play right on keyboard, while others are perfect for it.
4. 5 of my 7 core friends IRL all have gaming rigs.

Are you not interested in playing PC?
- I am, though I only play Sykrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas on PC becuase they're much better than on console and you can mod them.

- Are your worried about the cost?
I wasn't that worried about the cost as I paid for it all, but there's no way my parents would have ever bought something like this for me when I was younger as it is just too expensive.

Do you dislike using a controller?
I like using a controller, especially for souls games, you can use a controller with PC if you really want though.

Do your friends use one platform more?
Mostly all use PC, though I never play any online games with any of them as that's not what I enjoy playing. I don't even have Steam installed, I just pirate my games.

I play on pc purely because consoles are just degrading slowly, I don't see a point playing something like Gta V or battlefield 4 on 60fps on medium/high settings when my graphics card can already far exceed that. Not to mention, consoles have a tenancy to have really long life spans, just look at ps3 and xbox 360 what was it 7 years? But I'm like Squid Eye, I never had a great interest in it, but now it's all I play, I don't even own a console anymore.
