(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Yep, I woke up to my mother asking me if I wanted to have my ingrown toenail removed today at 2:30, so I said yes.

Background info: I suffer from ingrown toenails quite often. I get anywhere from 2-3 a month it seems....always on my big toes. I always cut them out myself with a pocket knife and then bandage them up with some antibiodic gel. However, this time was different...I tried to cut the ingrown toenail out but it hurt extremely bad this time (yes, it hurts cutting them out, but not as bad as it did this time.)

Anyways, I went to the doctors and this is how it went down:
-Sprayed with some type of ethyl to freeze the spots they were going to inject the needles
-Injected with a needle a total of 6 times. (yes, they inject it in one area at a time and they twist the needle sideways while it's injecting anesthetic to fully succumb the feeling in the toe.)
-Let me sit for a couple of minutes
-Moved me to a different room
-Cleaned my foot with betadine and a sponge
-Doctor starts digging the toenail out of the skin
-I feel a pretty bad pain at this point, so I tell the doctor and he injects me 6 more times.
-Within a minute of injecting me for the last time, he starts clipping my toenail to remove the sides of it
-No pain at all
-Removes both sides of the toenail
-Takes a paper towel, soakes it in phenol (an acid to kill the root of the nail so that it doesn't grow back in that area), and dabs it on both sides of my toenail.
-Wraps up toe and let it sit
-Bandage fills up with blood, so the nurse changes it out and watches me for another 10 minutes to make sure the bleeding has stopped
-Bleeding stops and she bandages me up fully this time and I leave

TLAwesome faceR: After struggling with ingrown toenails for years, I finally had them surgically removed for good this time.

Here's some pictures (Yes, there is blood, so if you don't want to see blood, don't look....)

O_O
That's a bit, lol.
I've had puss come out of mine before when I cut it out of the flesh, but it was a pen drop or less everytime. I'm guessing this time it was a bit more advanced lol.

I've never had an ingrown toe nail. You have really ugly looking toes though/nails. My toe nails don't have that issue.

Maybe it'll inform someone of the procedure if they are thinking of having it done Smile.

My right big toe nail sometimes grows into the skin and gets infected. I have to dig it out and cut it with toe nail clippers. Sometimes if I leave it for too long i have to lance it to get rid of the infection. But it hurts so fucking much.

I can see how you can get in grown nails real easy. Your big toe looks like it would be very prone to it just looking at the pictures. Anyways hope it's all good now!

During the surgery it felt like someone was squeezing your toe, didn't it? :fa: 7 years going, first surgery failed, 2nd try coming up soon.

{OM}1337{OM}; Ouch man! Mine has got infected before, but only pen dot sized puss would come out, so I guess I got lucky on those.

Reaper; I used to not get them until a few years ago. Hopefully with this surgery it's fixed permanently. Thanks man!

Kryptus; I couldn't really feel anything during the surgery other than the doctor holding my toe apart from the others. I heard him clip the toenail on both sides too, but that's about it. Did they put phenol in the roots of yours to kill them?
