The site was hacked and the hackers threaten to put database information online if the website is not taken down for good. You must login or register to view this content. is a article about everything that happened. 37 million users would be affected by the leak.

Like it or not, it really isn't. What people do to betray their spouses doesn't warrant legal action and there's not a court in the free world that would suggest they have the authority to act on adultery.

The morality is irrelevant when it's being used as some form of abatement for the hackers' actions. But of course it's immoral, betrayal of any kind is immoral. Morality shouldn't justify the legal recourse that Ashley Madison deserves though.

Names are one thing, I do believe people deserve to know if their significant other is cheating on them, but as for the credit card info? Hell no. Having an affair is wrong but isn't illegal. No one deserve to have their identity stolen because of some hacker group.
