I think it shouldn't be, cause honestly it ruin a lot of games! On the other hand, its fun modding.... so honestly IDK!

In their EULA (thing no one reads) it states that it is intellectual property and its against their terms of service to reverse engineer their software. So legally even though you own the hardware, you're not meant to modify the software in any way.

Wtf

EDIT:
I hope you know I'm agreeing with you in allowing CFW right?

Modding on the PS3 was fun when the first jailbreak came out but it got boring after a while. Now theres tons of things you can do with games via a jailbreak but for me its ruined the fun of gaming.

Well i believe a CFW has a whole lot more to it then modding games. And to think most people actually bought jailbreaks just to mod gta is bonkers.

As I said: "There will be people abusing it."
It should be allowed to a certain extend. The extend being; when you are "harming" others' experience.

Personally, i go with the 'wont do, don't do it' philosophy when it comes to my consoles - that's really not a reflection over modded gaming use at all (i do play modded games too), but a reflection of the fact i have better uses for firmware/software/electronics 'butchery' applied to more worthy and purposeful projects. I'd rather use my programming and modifying and retrofitting skills towards something really challenging, like repurposing a transceiver designed for trunk comms systems to other uses, or reverse engineer an alternative software to replace the internal programming of a transceiver's control architecture. But that said, don't be too surprised, after all i did 'crazy' stuff like that as side projects during my radio tech apprentice days.

But each to their own, and just remember if you are going to do a bit of butchery for someone else, at least have the dangly bits to take responsibility if you do screw up the console and help get a replacement or repairs (it's not all, 'at the owners risk' if they are paying you to do it - then, sadly, you have to respect that you are being paid to do a job and liable for damage done irrespective of your 'get out clause' BS).

I support having a jailbreak, however I do not support modding games. It would be nice to use Windows on a PS4, it would be my new PC.
