I think if you wanna hit up off-road and desert trails its better to get a cheap jeep or c10 overall. The parts are cheap the car is cheap and if it breaks who cares. Parts on a new Ford aren't exactly cheap

i dont know if alot of people here have experience with offroad but i do i would reccomend maybe a old jeep cherokee or a older 4x4 truck you dont want to be driving a brand new 2015 chevrolet silverado z71 off road even thought thats what the z71 package is for the truck would still be to nice to treat that way. have you ever looked at the chevrolet s10 Zr2 edition? they come stock with 3 inch factory lifts all terrrain tires skid plates underneath so if you bottom out it protects vital parts underneath fender flars over the wheel wells and boxed renforced frame for heavy uneven offroad terrain and factory hitches for pulling shit around

You can still break shit while mudding. If anything mudding is really hard on everything. Of course it depends on how deep the mud is. Best case would be shit gets into your differentials and you gotta clean out the housing and change the fluid. Don't get me wrong mudding is fun but the maintenance aspect just sucks. I'm actually dealing with a slight drive line leak somewhere on my UZJ100. It's not too terrible of a leak if anything it's a drip. Eventually I'll have to go in and just replace the seals on everything and eventually clean and repack wheel bearings or replace them.

As they say there's a reason why the phrase and site IH8MUD exist lmfao.

This is the greatest advice. I had the opportunity to buy an old XJ for like $1,500 and just trash it about. In the long run it would have been a hell of a lot cheaper. Parts are easier to come by etc. Instead I'm dealing with expensive Toyota Land Cruiser parts and the mess that comes with it lol.
