So if NASCAR is a sport, gaming is aswell.

Nascar drivers need to be in pretty good physical and mental shape so that along with the competitiveness makes it a sport in my opinion.

If gaming is a sport, that means that poker is a sport. And I definitely would not call Doyle Brunson or Chris Moneymaker athletes.

So, sadly, you'll have to tell your mom that your not an athlete, and that you now realize it is just playing video games.

1. They don't need to be in good physical condition, just the sponsors want them to be.
2. Gaming is competitive 90% of the time.
3. You have to be in a good mental shape to do well in gaming as well, or you'll run around like a headless chicken w/ no aim whatsoever. Also you'd be called a 'fag' constantly by the Americans(no offence, but you lot use that word way too much)... :p

As far as I'm concerned, neither NASCAR nor gaming are sports, only those which require ya' know, exercise...

1. I highly doubt NASCAR drivers go through the workout regimes someone of them do just because sponsors want them to. You can be some fat slob and as long as you win you'll have sponsorships.
2. You are right, I should have phrased what I said another way. There isn't nothing on the line 90% of time someone sits down to game.

You are talking like everyone sits down and games competitively which isn't the case, nor the case of this topic, if it is then disregard this. He is simply asking if you consider gaming in general to be a sport, not just entering into tournaments as the only factor of gaming but casual as well. This is my answer to 3 and in general.

I think there are some factors in racing in NASCAR that people just don't realize and that gives them the assumption that it is just sitting in car and going around in circles when that's not the case.

As always it's you opinion and you're entitled to that, but I just think people have this misconception of NASCAR that's all. (For the record, I fking hate NASCAR so I'm not just saying this because I like it, quite frankly I'd prefer if it would just die out and not take place anymore.)

Think about Tiger Woods, Thierry Henry the ones in the Gillette adverts. Not the best example but my point is they wouldn't have those sponsorships would they not be in shape. I meant sponsorships outside of the sport altogether.

Just being in a game is competitive, as the objective is to win. The ones that enter into competitions are beyond competitive IMO.

I know a lot of concentration and effort goes into it, but does anything else at all? If not then you can consider sitting your GCSEs a sport.

I'm glad you mentioned opinion, some people seem to think they're right about everything

At first I agreed with you on this point, however how many sports actually allow you to be out of shape? NASCAR - Tony Stewart would be the definition of out of shape. He still managed to have his face put all over Home Depot's ad campaigns, and many others. Reggie White always had sponsorships, and same with Warren Sapp. In order to have sponsorships you must be one of the best in your field, and have the personality.

I've had some competitive games of Monopoly with my family. I hardly ever changed my facebook status to "playing sports". And let me tell you. I always play to win!

Well, they are risking their lives, which does not make it a sport, but should be recognized. I highly doubt you are sitting in your living room scared to death that when [Boob]sMcgee lines you up with his thermal scope, that if he presses x that your head may blow off, or you lose a limb.

I agree and disagree. Any athlete that does commercials for advertising are the best at their respective sport. Tiger Woods? Wins. LeBron James? Wins. Kobe Bryant? Wins. Of course these are bad examples as they are all in shape. My point being if you are one of the best at what you do you'll be able obtain sponsorships.

I guess we can both agree to disagree on this subject.

Anna Kournikova....See what I did there? You lied, you aren't always right.:(

Anna Kournikova is more famous for her modeling career and her personal life then anything she ever did in her tennis career.

I know you were using sarcasm, just not sure if it was direct towards my if you win you'll have sponsorships line, so I responded just in case.
