(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Just like the title says, a 26 TERABYTE per second internet speed. (1000 gigs=1 terabyte)

In a dramatic breakthrough, scientists have learned how to use optical fiber to transmit data over a single laser at speeds that dwarf even today's fastest Internet connections.

This could be a great breakthrough for the internet community. Imaging having that type of internet speed, most people have what, 2 MB/s? Thats not even a Gigabyte.

Such bandwidth would enable an Internet user to download the entire library of congress in about 10 seconds, according to the BBC.

Oh and just a final note they said, "Already a 100 terabits per second experiment has been demonstrated,"

What else could come from this?

Only $22,000 a month or $500 per gig. xD

nah jokes, but like the guy said above, it will take many years to actually set it up, all australians like myself are still on DSL! All you lucky ones, i would do anything to have more than 5mb/s (our exchange is like 3 km a way)

It didn't take them long to implement fibre optic after it was discovered, what makes you think this'll be different.
