Introduction

Hi,

These days you see loads of exciting intros made by pros on programs like After Effects or Cinema 4d, and that's fine. However, if you want to make your own intro, effective ones can be made for free, and in a lot shorter time.
[multipage=My intro]

This is what I have produced. It took about 20 minutes and everything was free and simple to use.

[multipage=Resources and programs]

Before we start, there are a few things you are going to want to gather in order to make your intro.

1. Windows movie maker
This is the main program you will use to edit your video. It is free and is part of the package you get with Windows XP and Windows Vista. If you have Windows 7, or you do not already have the program, you may download it You must login or register to view this content. (this is the XP version that I used).

2. Audacity
This is not essential, but is very useful to make your intro more effective as you can use it to sync your text with your music. You can download it You must login or register to view this content..

3. A cool backdrop
In my intro you will have seen the warp backdrop. These are just to give your intro some depth and to make it more interesting. For the one I used, and many more, I visited You must login or register to view this content..

4. Some cool fonts
If you want to, you can use the default ones on your computer, but these are so much more exciting! I download my fonts from You must login or register to view this content., but you can use your own or just google it.

5. Epic music
I just youtubed "Epic music", and I used this You must login or register to view this content..

6. Any Video Converter
Not ANY, that's just it's name. Download it You must login or register to view this content. and it is for making your intro youtube worthy.

Once you have gotten all of these, it is time to start making your intro. Smile
[multipage=Importing your backdrop]

Now you have gotten everything, we are first going to insert your backdrop to windows movie maker.
In movie maker, just click on import video and locate your backdrop file from the My Documents folder.

You must login or register to view this content.

Once you have done this, drag the thumbnail onto the timeline at the bottom.

[multipage=Syncing your music to your text]

This is probably the most complicated thing you will have to do for the intro.

First, open Audacity, and click on Project, Import Audio and locate your music clip that you downloaded.

You must login or register to view this content.

Once imported, and this is the tricky bit, you need to find at which points to insert your text. This is kinda hard to explain, but you will generally want to insert it on a beat, so when you hit a beat while playing your track, write the time down on a piece of paper. For my track, there was a beat at 2.25, 5.25, 8.25 and 11.25.

These times will be where you want to insert the text, to create the best effect.
[multipage=Adding the text in the right place]

Now you know where you want to put the text, it's time to do it. The easiest way I have found how to do this is to play the clip until you reach around the point where the beat is and pause the video. Once you have done this you want to click on split clip.

You must login or register to view this content.

Next, you want to click Make Titles or Credits, go to Add title on the selected clip, and add whatever effect you want. This is where you want to use the fonts you have downloaded as well.

You must login or register to view this content.

Repeat this for each of the beats until you have your completed intro. However, we still need to finalise everything.
[multipage=Finalisation]

Once you have your completed intro, you will want to click File, Save Movie As and save it as what you want.

You must login or register to view this content.

Now, we are going to use Any Video Converter to make the video youtube worthy. Click Add Video and find your saved movie. Import this and then change the settings at the right to:
Customised AVI Movie (Top left)
Frame size to 1280x720

You can also click File, Set Output Folder, and choose where your new file saves to.

You must login or register to view this content.

Click convert and there you have it! Your completed intro. Please thank the post if you found it useful, and leaves suggestions for improvement below.
Cheers,
Sharpie.
