Post: My C4D Project - Family Guy

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey guys, I've seen that quite a lot of you are familiar with C4D, and I'm in a class for 3D drafting that uses it, so I thought I'd share what I'm making with you guys.

Our assignment is to make a model of whatever we'd like, and it will be graded on creativity and usage of the basic skills we've learned throughout the year so far.

I chose to make my project a fly through of the exterior and interior of the house from Family Guy. Here's what I have so far as of 1/13/11 over 4 classes:

I know it does not have anything on the interior, It does not have shadowing or lighting, and I'd eventually like to make surrounding scenery and a backdrop and sky.

For the final project, I'm going to make the camera start from the outside, fly into the house and take a virtual tour of the griffin house.

Here's what I have so far: (keep in mind I'm nowhere close to finished)

Once again sorry for it being so dark, I don't have lighting in it yet, and it only renders light to what you're directly facing when it's rendered if you don't have lighting

I know for a fact I'm going to re-create their living room, and I'm considering making a model of Peter Griffin in the living room watching TV as it flies through.

I would like your opinions on it so far, and maybe tell me what you would like to see in it as well and if it's a good idea I will gladly include it. Maybe even write your name on the side of a wall so as it flies through you can see it for a brief second off to the side Happy

Anyways guys, let me know what you think Smile

Thanks for the tips, If you look at the high res version, I attempted reflection on the glass windows on the right side of the house. I only did that because I couldn't find a screen texture and I couldn't make a .PNG one in class because I don't have photoshop in there.

And lighting makes me want to rip my hair out :FU: It pisses me off that you have to change the suns location manually through numbers and shit, you can't just move it. And when you do get it in a good spot, where it doesn't shine is like pitch black :FU:

Very true Smile How about instead of just having the house, you put the house in a lighted box? You could make the walls of the box an HDR texture and then it would have light in all the areas :P

Dang that's pretty good. I was thinking of eventually learning Cinema 4D in my free time, and now I'm inspired. Good job man.

Thanks man, It's pretty fun to get into, because you can create practically anything you'd like.

It took me about four 90 minute class periods for that.
