(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Is there any possible way to do this? I know I myself couldn't do it but I am curious to see if anyone has, or can put Minecraft on a PS3 for emulation, like through a homebrew or something...It'd obviously have to be a jailbreak thing but I am wondering cause that'd be cool cause I can not always use my computer, (parents are split up).

Thanks for any replies guys.

The only reason that this game beed so much power to run it is because of the pur cpu power that is needed. The ps3's cpu may be able to handle a downed version of the game. And yes that means crappy graphics and a low view distance. But if sonebody finds another more efficienct way of generating the world better graphics and view distance may follow.

A full port of the game to ps3 would kill the cpu. The game would probably look like a slideshow too.

Did you not watch the PlayB3yond commercials??!?!

The PS3 is a very powerful machine, it has an 8-core cell processor. MineCraft uses very little RAM as well, because it is quite efficient in its map loading system. It simply stores the map in chunks, but you don't seem aware of that, have you tried to hack the game or even play it?

My PC is running on an AMD Phenom II 1055T x6 Processor and 8 GB RAM. I was able to run MC at max settings with about 100fps, while rendering a video (which takes up 85-90% of my RAM).

If RAM ever became an issue the PS3 could always just rely on its graphics card to power the BEAST that is Minecraft and its BEAUTIFUL and ELEGANT blocks....

Its not impossible to port a PC game to PS3...
M.A.G was first developed on PC and then ported too PS3.

I am sure a port to PS3 would be easy because Minecraft is Linux compatible and you can modify Java to work on a Jailbroken PS3, so I think it would be possible.

This would be so cool also you can plug xbox kinect in to pc and use with minecraft but its not so good but on the ps3 or xbox console it would be cool

Porting a pc game to ps3 would not be hard. I'm trying to think of an example but I can't.

Yeah Drake, I know but my computer sucks and lags like crazy thats why I want to do it on my PS3, and my HD tv...
And Coltz, Im jelous cause for some reason despite my dual core processor and my 4gb of ram on Vista I still lag a ton on Minecraft on the lowest settings...My graphics card can handle Battlefield, why can't it hold Minecraft?

1. You are running Vista
2. You have a dual core
3. Downgrade to XP or upgrade to 7, Vista is a CPU hog

What kind of graphics card do you have? Mine is an Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT, which by no means is top of the line and it handles everything well.

Yes it has 8 cores, but keep in mind that it is a CELL processor. Cell processors are extremely slow compared to today's standards. A 2.0GHZ dual core processor would easily kick the PS3's processor to the curve. Also the graphic card on the ps3 is decent for a console, but once again, a low-end PC graphics card would easily blow it in the dust.

MINECRAFT is not a very demanding game... The PS3 could handle it..
