(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Is there any possible way to do this? I know I myself couldn't do it but I am curious to see if anyone has, or can put Minecraft on a PS3 for emulation, like through a homebrew or something...It'd obviously have to be a jailbreak thing but I am wondering cause that'd be cool cause I can not always use my computer, (parents are split up).

Thanks for any replies guys.

The ps3 does not have enough power to generate that many blocks. It would be near impossible to port a pc game to ps3, so a ps3 version would have to be made from scratch. Notch would sue your ass if you did this anyway.

Notch wouldn't sue you at all.. Also Minecraft is on the iPhone by someone other than Notch, so...

I am sure a port to PS3 would be easy because Minecraft is Linux compatible and you can modify Java to work on a Jailbroken PS3, so I think it would be possible.

Hmm..So two completely different views on the subject matter, I have no knowledge of the ps3's power or the linux thing but all I can think is that the ps3 SHOULD have a kick ass graphics card if it can play games like it does, and it has like; 256 mb (?) of ram, so shouldn't that be enough to handle a game like minecraft? I mean, c'mon if it can handle M.A.G or CoD, shouldn't it be able to handle such thing? Again, I am just making an assumption not a factual statement, so correct if I am wrong, I just would pay up the butt for a PS3 Minecraft, Homebrew or Not. Dancing

The ps3 can not play the pc version of minecraft. So if they ported the pc version to ps3 it would lag a ton. However if a person made a ps3 version with another way of generating the map (so a different way to the pc version) it may just aswell happen. The only reason that this game beed so much power to run it is because of the pur cpu power that is needed. The ps3's cpu may be able to handle a downed version of the game. And yes that means crappy graphics and a low view distance. But if sonebody finds another more efficienct way of generating the world better graphics and view distance may follow.

A full port of the game to ps3 would kill the cpu. The game would probably look like a slideshow too.

The ps3 would have ample power. It has 6 cores dedicated to games.

Porting a pc game to ps3 would not be hard. I'm trying to think of an example but I can't.
