Pretty much, by the end of this week I'm going to order a new CPU and Motherboard, which hopefully will drastically improve my gaming performance on games like Arma. Can you guys please recommend what CPU you think I should get, hopefully replacing as little as possible.

ie. I would prefer not to buy a i7-5820k due to the fact I don't want to replace the RAM unless required.

Thanks

i5-4460 and a cheap H81 motherboard with all the essentials. If you want to pay extra for more RAM slots, more SATA ports, USB 3.0, etc., that's on you.

4460 and a decent h97 board so you at least get some good features unlike a h81

Difference between i7 and i5: i7 has hyperthreading.

The extra threads on the i7 doesn't really benefit gaming much. If you want to spend extra to get a little more performance, get a i5-4690K, Z97 motherboard, and an aftermarket cooler, and overclock it.

This is what I've chose, but do you know a cpu fan thats good? The previous one I had obstructs the RAM slots so only 3/4 fit even though they're low profile.

I use this CPU cooler... It's cheap and works great.
I'm sure your low profile RAM will fit too. Mine did.
