A girl, aged 3, accidentally killed herself in Tennessee on Sunday night after mistaking a .380 caliber semi automatic handgun for a Wii Controller. Reports claim that she had been playing a game with a controller that looked very similar to the handgun.

The girl was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead that same night, after fatally shooting herself in the abdomen. The girl's step-father is said to have left the gun on the living room table, but no charges are being filed. He claims it was left on the table after he had heard a possible intruder and gotten the gun out earlier that evening.

A pretty shocking case, but it sounds like some irresponsible parenting to me, sad it had to happen to someone so young.

It's stupid how the father is not getting charged, it's clearly his fault.

That is really sad ):
The parents should not have left the gun out lying in the open in the first place!
How careless.

Why did the child point the gun and shot at herself? This is even more shocking than seeing a story of a child accidentally killing someone else. Either way bad parenting never ends in a good way. Poor child.

I dont know why the Father would leave the gun on a table to something. Whenever i think a hear someone breaking in my house i have my gun on the belt of my pants for easy acces i got a cuple guns on my shelf in my room but they arent accesable by my little sister or anything because its really high.

Also By law you have to keep your gun locked up somehwere or have a saftey lock on it so if your chiled gets ahold of it they cant use it. The Father of the little girl is sooo lucky he isent getting charged and locked up

This is a sad story. Poor gun control. Didn't even have a trigger lock on it. Plus it was loaded IN THE HOUSE NEAR CHILDREN! Manslaughter charges should be filed against him.

The Clip should have been loaded, but not in the gun. Chamber should have been empty, and some kind of safety precaution taken on the firearm.

Poor little girl. Rip.

wow. This is sad. This is why guns should be kept in a safe if you had a permit for it. RIP
