A girl, aged 3, accidentally killed herself in Tennessee on Sunday night after mistaking a .380 caliber semi automatic handgun for a Wii Controller. Reports claim that she had been playing a game with a controller that looked very similar to the handgun.

The girl was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead that same night, after fatally shooting herself in the abdomen. The girl's step-father is said to have left the gun on the living room table, but no charges are being filed. He claims it was left on the table after he had heard a possible intruder and gotten the gun out earlier that evening.

A pretty shocking case, but it sounds like some irresponsible parenting to me, sad it had to happen to someone so young.

With all due respect, for you to think it is "nice" is awful. No offense intended towards you directly, I think you should take some time to actually consider what happened: An innocent little girl wanted to play a game, and accidentally killed herself. It's not as if she knew any better, she was only three years old!

This is a very sad story, indeed. Shows that some parents need to be very careful in some seemingly harmless situations, and shows that perhaps children of such a young age shouldn't even be exposed to games in which holding a gun of any sort is required. At age 3, a little girl should be sitting on the floor playing with dolls (no stereotyping intended) and running around with a smile on her face.

yeah this is F*cked up. The parents shouldn't have let her play with a gun controller in the first place, but they definitely SHOULDN'T have left a damn loaded gun right next to it....
