But even with all the realism in today's games I pose this question is this enough to satisfy your itchy trigger finger.

According to Uncle Sam, the US Military is the best solution for a itchy trigger finger. Why settle for second best when you can have the real thing. As a gamer its cool to turn on your favorite console, pop in your favorite fps and go ballistic. But,has it change your perspective and make you want the real thing. Some speculate with a over abundance of fps to choose from their is a reason and this began to spark my curiosity.

A 2008 study conducted at MIT showed that 30 percent of Americans ages 16 to 24 had a more favorable impression of the Army because of COD Modern Warfare. Even more astonishing is the game had more a impact on new recruits than any other form of advertisement. Are we getting basic training before entering basic training. Is this a clever tactic to train up future recruits. Though I highly doubt it my question is this "Have fps influenced your view of the military and would you consider joining."

Well Well Well. It's been awhile since I've done some news so I'm back.

Anyways, if you're to lazy to read above it talked about how a lot of people are joining/Joined the Military because of FPS Games

Mostly CoD probably because of how realistic it is. I highly doubt anyone joined the Military because they loved Halo and wanna be just like the Spartans.

I know of at least 2 people or more that have joined the Marines and/or Army because CoD just had such an influence on them. I'm sure you know someone who has joined because of that reason too. I just thought this was kind of interesting so I figured I might as well do some news on it.

Look at America's Army. That is an FPS developed, produced, and funded by the government. It's a recruiting tool.

FPS games teach players how to control adrenaline under pressure, to think fast on your feet. Also communication.

I hate when people say they want to join because of a video game. You should be enlisting to help your country and other countries in need, not because the latest CoD was fun. Video games like the CoD franchise are putting a false reality in the mind of adolescents that war is all about killing and fun when it takes a lot of training/preparation/waiting/stress and a lot more. A video game shouldn't even pop in your mind when considering the military.

Because how CoD is so realistic? Happy That's like saying how GTA4 is so non-violent.

It's a video game. It may have a gun, shooting, and great graphics, but that does NOT make it anywhere near realistic.

You know what I mean...I mean't like you don't jump 20 Ft. Trust me I know CoD is a load of b/s but there is some stuff that's realistic like the campaign (For the most parts)

i personally don't think that fps games have influenced the youth. i actually think that they have diminished the youth in wanting to join the marines/army. i think this because teens are realizing that war does not have second chances. also the realism in games such as CoD are not real. a single 7.62 mm NATO round from an m4 is enough to put someone down. in CoD it takes more than that

I think it maybe crosses peoples minds when they play COD, but I think the people who actually join the military do it to serve their country or just kill people.
