But even with all the realism in today's games I pose this question is this enough to satisfy your itchy trigger finger.

According to Uncle Sam, the US Military is the best solution for a itchy trigger finger. Why settle for second best when you can have the real thing. As a gamer its cool to turn on your favorite console, pop in your favorite fps and go ballistic. But,has it change your perspective and make you want the real thing. Some speculate with a over abundance of fps to choose from their is a reason and this began to spark my curiosity.

A 2008 study conducted at MIT showed that 30 percent of Americans ages 16 to 24 had a more favorable impression of the Army because of COD Modern Warfare. Even more astonishing is the game had more a impact on new recruits than any other form of advertisement. Are we getting basic training before entering basic training. Is this a clever tactic to train up future recruits. Though I highly doubt it my question is this "Have fps influenced your view of the military and would you consider joining."

Well Well Well. It's been awhile since I've done some news so I'm back.

Anyways, if you're to lazy to read above it talked about how a lot of people are joining/Joined the Military because of FPS Games

Mostly CoD probably because of how realistic it is. I highly doubt anyone joined the Military because they loved Halo and wanna be just like the Spartans.

I know of at least 2 people or more that have joined the Marines and/or Army because CoD just had such an influence on them. I'm sure you know someone who has joined because of that reason too. I just thought this was kind of interesting so I figured I might as well do some news on it.

You'd have to be a retard to think you can go into the army going in running and gunning the taliban. 90% of most people's time in the army will just be paroling. I can imagine someone attempting to no scope someone or even try to jump whilst shooting a 50 caliber sniper. It'd be funny because they'd go flying backwards. Some people would probably ask for the model shotgun over an automatic one. Then whilst trying to kill someone they'll get a splinter through their hand. All FPS games suck anyways Third person games are 1,000,000 more times realistic.

Honestly, the COD series like Cod4, and MW2, their weapons, it probably gives the real life person some more details about guns when they're in the military, but idiots who goes to war just because they saw some Call of Duty games, why not just buy a game, and then play it, it better off like that, except being pwned by hackers

6 of my classmates applied to join the army and when they were asked why they felt inspired to join the army and each and everyone of them said because of war video games!...4 of them got in, the other two just stay home and play call of duty all day long now haaha

Nice post, very interesting. I know fps games have changed my views on the military, makes me want to become a sniper =D . But i have to disagree with you when you say cod is realistic because in my opinion it is not realistic at all lol, i think the battlefield games are much more realistic than cod games.. Battlefield also looks like they put much more time into the game, MW2 seems rushed and a lot of other people including me still think cod4 is better than mw2. But I have turned to bfbc2, much more funner, and i believe it actually takes skill to play.. :O .

Lol yea, you'll see people on the battlefield trying to "wallbang" people through a whole building, tbagging enemies, doing 360s and whatnot lol.. If recruits that joined because of cod try to use game tactics, you already know the military will start to fall...

I always wanted to become a sniper IRL
