We know Call of Duty: Black Ops will be set in the Cold War period, in which John F. Kennedy played a vital role as President of the United States. He was assassinated November 22nd 1963 in Dallas by Lee Harvery Oswald. The main evidence for a possible inclusion of something to do with the assassination is what appears to be a Mannlicher-Carcano shown in the recent release trailer, which was used by Oswald to shoot the President, at around 0:16.

Could this crucial moment in American and Cold War history be the classic controversial topic that every Call of Duty game brings to the table each year? In the original Modern Warfare, we had a nuclear blast, with thousands of troops and a whole city vaporized. The media also complained of it's violence, like Zakhaev's arm, and it's promotion of the army. In Call of Duty: World At War, violence was again an issue, especially the ability to kill un-armed troops. The most controversial of all came recently, in Modern Warfare 2, in the form of shooting hundreds of innocent civilians in the level 'Terminal', causing an outcry from the media. So could the Black Ops surprise story-line twist in history come in the form of assuming the role of Lee Harvey Oswald, taking the role of a new killer, trying to prevent it, or something along those lines? Nobody really knows, and knowing Treyarch, they'll have us all guessing right till the end. For now, we can only hope they give us a compelling, exciting story that will have us on the edge our seats the entire time.

im giving this a :n:
it would upset sooo many people

The airport mission in mw2 upset a lot of people in Russia, and many people here too and it was still released. I'm sure JFK would be released as well.

considering no-one has actually been charged for it :n:

Would be interesting to see that event or something similar, but I do not recall it starting a war or anything so perhaps if[/] they do infact use it they might add a twist, who knows.

To and fro the island.
Well that's something I never really thought about. I suppose it could be, though it would be a risk on the developer's part. So long (though it would be quite an interesting mission) as you do not play as the the individual who killed John F. Kennedy, however, I don't see there being an controversial issues.

This is likely though, as developers usually bounce at the opportunity to add a nation-wide (or even world-wide) known event into their games.

I don't fancy killing innocent civilians either, but I did anyway in MW2 because it's a game. Killing JFK is no different.

This is a "free" country, who cares about their reaction.
