In a memo sent out to all Microsoft employee's, that was in turn sent to kotaku, the CEO of Microsoft announced that the pair were retiring.

"At Microsoft, I've been so fortunate to spend more than two decades of my life working with incredible people and doing amazing things like launching Office, Xbox and Xbox Live, the ‘Halo' franchise, Windows Phones, Zune and more," Bach said in a prepared statement. "I'm at the time in my life where I want to dedicate more time to my family and my nonprofit work, including my work with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I have the utmost confidence in Steve, Don and Andy and their ability to see through our mission of bringing extraordinary entertainment and mobility experiences to life for people around the world."

For those of you too lazy to read the quote, he basically says that he's enjoyed his time with Microsoft and is glad he's leaving at such a great time for Microsoft. And that he wants to spend more time with his family and helping less fortunate people.

Rumors have also been confirmed that J. Allard, the companies chief officer of the entertainment and devices division, is leaving Microsoft after an employment of 15 years.

Both of these men were key employees in the division responsible for the xbox 360 and the Zune. In my opinion, this could be Sony's best chance to catch up to Microsoft. After the PS3's horrible launch in 2006, rated by Nintendo Power (I still have this one from when I was 11) to be the worst Game Launch of the Year. By the time they had gotten back on there feet, the Xbox 360 was already far ahead. That's my speculation, what do you guys think about this?
