Activision: Black Ops Will Raise The Bar

Josh Olin of Activision studios has been speaking out about Call of Duty: Black Ops to MCV, on the expectations after Modern Warfare 2, and if developer Treyarch plays 'second fiddle' to Infinity Ward. When asked how Black Ops would raise the bar after MW2, he replied “Modern Warfare 2 is an extremely successful entertainment launch, record selling, which is absolutely phenomenal. Every Call of Duty game has ratcheted the bar up for the next one, and we’re just ratcheting up the bar one step further. I think Black Ops is going to exceed expectations. This game is going to be huge.”

He also went on to say how Black Ops will end the sterotype that developer Treyarch is shadowed by Infinity Ward. “We’re going to let Black Ops speak for itself,” he said. “We’re always trying to make the best game we can possibly make, and with Black Ops it really is the best work we’ve ever done.” Olin also admitted Black Ops would have some touch competition from games like EA's Medal of Honor and Ubisoft's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, but the game will still “stand out in true Call Of Duty fashion”.

It's nice to see Activision acknowledge the efforts of Treyarch and not just focus on the success of Infinity Ward and Modern Warfare 2. I'm also not quite sure why they're worried about other titles, they themselves must know the Call of Duty series is completely dominant in the First Person Shooter genre.
