A Treyarch Spokesman said on the Black Ops official site:



For those of you who are unsure, Mod Tools is a computer program which will allow PC users to create their own version of the game. It allows them to change out models, weapons, effects, characters, and even create an entire level.

This announcement will be much welcomed in the Call of Duty PC community, who were annoyed at Infinity Ward's decision not to allow for modding in Modern Warfare 2.

Are you excited at the prospect of PC Modding for Black Ops?


RedKnight adds: Just so you know, 'Mod Tools' means Developer Kit. Basically zombie mods in multiplayer, promod, other cool modded gametypes, extra maps and custom levels, weaponry and equipment in certain servers.

You should check out CoD4, as well. They have mods like a Star Wars themed TDM, Zombies, and CoDMW2 guns. It's amazing.

Sadly you can't rent PC Games. >_< Every game has its own activation code/online code.

modding for xbox 360 also or only PC???

The Xbox division of Microsoft gets pissed off whenever we mod game saves, so, sadly, there's no way they'll let us mod for this game. ):

Hopefully in the future, they'll realize that it isn't really a big deal, and they'll give us modding capabilities/content.

But you can mod it with a Jtag right???

Not in the exact same manner as with a PC, no. But you can do a lot of things a PC can do modding-wise, I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. xD
