Being released this fall, Microsoft plan to release a new re-designed Xbox 360 wireless controller that also features a transforming d-pad along with different colour buttons.

Acknowledging the trouble many players have had with the current d-pad, Microsoft's engineers have upgraded the controller's d-pad to go "from a plus to a disc with the twist of the wrist," according toLarry "Major Nelson" Hryb.

The new d-pad provides “Ultimate accuracy and control for both directional and sweeping movements.”

That's a fail. The D-Pad controls should be separate buttons like on the PS3, PS2, PS1, PS, and PSP. When they are all one button, (least for me) they don't work like they should. Trying to press down results in also and/or pressing left or right.

So fail on them.

I don't see any other controller do that in one.

I like the 'colour' design. The greys looks better than the colours we have now. I think it goes more with the white. It could be a good controller but at about £50-55 is pretty steep. I'm also not understanding why Europe gets them like 3 months later than America.

True, but if they were to swap them out, if you know what I mean, then they will have to sell if people want a new controller.I'm still think it's too steep though for a little twisty d-pad. It won't be long after it's out that you'll be able to buy similar things from modding companies.

impossible to swap out the old control, older is generaly cheaper to produce and knock offs would come in at 1/3 of the price of retail with the same or better build quality, its a pratical and financial impossibility
