There have been many complaints of compatibility issues following the 3.50 update, which have been posted on the Official PlayStation forums. If you're still experiencing problems I'd advise that you contact MadCatz.

... Actually this would be a reason to buy 3rd party products. They're actually doing something about the issue when they could just as easily say "I'm afraid you're S.O.L." It's not their fault and yet they are doing something on their end to help. It's unprecedented in todays market.

i'm sorry if you guys have to resort to buying mad cats controllers because of the expense of ps3 controllers.... but i'd defiantly shell out for the sf pad
