Only a few days into the release of the heavily awaited Call of Duty: Black Ops, developer Treyarch seems to be having various issues regarding the game's servers. There have been reports worldwide claiming that the multiplayer server for the game is down. In some areas, servers have been down for over 3 hours.

Earlier on, there have already been many reports concerning connectivity issues with the game altogether, even when the servers are functioning.

Although Treyarch will undoubtedly make quite a bit of money off of this title, they will likely face much criticism given the circumstances. Gamers around the world have been awaiting this title, and now, on their first weekend where they can focus and enjoy the game, the servers are barely, if at all, functioning.

I'll update this post if any more news concerning this issue comes in.

No, Sony and Microsoft are in charge of the online connection to the servers, the servers come from the game servers i.e. Activision, and with Demonware being owned by Activision you'd assume they'd get the best connection? Ahh well, patch should be out soon.

completely agreed, they shouldn't be slacking this much, they should fix it, i know mw2 went down for a full 24 hours but they fixed it the next day and it didn't lag or anything. treyarch is slacking hardcore

Considering that DEMON-WARE hosted the servers for MW2 and after the initial release the servers were fine I'm sure it will get a lot better but I too agree it's now 1 week after release if your only going to fix one thing "QUICKLY" let it be the servers everything else can wait but it's not enjoyable to play with the amount of lag there is.

i'll keep my expensive machine instead of a cheap one especially since i don't have to pay for xbl usage on top of my internet usage

Actually before you bash Treyarch and start kissing IW's arse, ,that's Activisions fault. The same peoples who's fault it was that MW2 servers were actually completely DOWN for about 3 days. I'd rather a little lag whilst the game get's on it's own two feet than the servers to be down completely.
Besides all the problems that we've been facing are being patched, in ONE patch.

I honestly think the gameplay (even though its laggy, and it will get better) is soooooo much better than MW2. You actually need skill to play this game unlike MW2. I love MW2 also, not hating, but i like BO better. You haters will see, once they fix the issues, that BO is (besides CoD4) going to be the best CoD game
