Geohot Found Root Key
Well it seems Geohot has done it again. The hacker mostly known for cracking the iPhone now says he's found the keys to PlayStation 3.
What's the difference between Geohot's work and Fail0verflow's you ask? Well while Fail0verflow is in process of releasing tools to allow people to install Linux on their system, Geohot just went ahead and published the PS3's "root key".

The root key is a signature of sorts, that lets the PS3 know that the program that's about to run on the console is a legitimate piece of software. If it's now out there, then once people start messing around with it, they'll be able to whip up anything - be that custom software or pirated games - and trick the console into thinking it's OK to load.
Mean time Fail0verflow have released some "PS3 development tools" as they have promised.

At least MS put security in place so that your console gets banned from XBL after modding(eventually), whereas the PSN scene is just getting ridiculous.

Yeah, think about it, if PS3 gets hacked like hell, game company's will avoid PS3 because if pirate games can be played then game company's will loose out of income from their games because everyone will just buy they pirated.

In fairness anybody w/ a JTAG can pirate 360 games, although the PS3's modding is getting beyond cool and is now downright damaging.

But yeah, PS3 modding is out of control.

Your acting like if ps3 was going to be the first console that they can jb and pirate games, xbox was able to do that years ago since this and they still make games for it, wii can also do this and yet they still make games for that, pc you can pirate games and they still make them, every console they find a way to pirate games and companys know this but they know most of them don't do it, it won't stop the from making games trust me because pirating games has been going on for a long time, they're not going to go on strike just because we added another console to our list.....look at music for example, it's like the #1 thing downloaded illegally but yet artist still make music, you don't think they don't know about that? They just hope they have loyal fans and that support them for their work, so stop over exagerating things because I've seen like lots of comments saying they won't make games for ps3 anymore if they find out lol, not true
