Microsoft's recent acquirement of Jenkins Software has allowed them to access the company's Rakney Tech, opening up the possibility of features previously exclusive to PC coming to the console.

The software will give Xbox 360 gamers and developers the opportunity to make use of Steam integrations in future releases.

Steam is also being integrated into Sony's PlayStation 3, enabling users to make use of a few of Steam's services such as cloud storage, cross platform-chat and more.

The key features which Xbox 360 gamers can expect are as follows:

• Lobby and room matchmaking
• Network address traversal connectivit
• Use of Steam servers for forwarding traffic

The addition of this software could possibly allow Microsoft to give access to Mods and other exciting features which might be released with Valve's Portal 2 and many more titles in the future.

Mr. Awesome.
Dave, this should only be stated as a rumor for now, as this hasn't been confirmed by MS.

Thanks, good point, removed the 'announcement' tag.

@Zone I believe it would be the community doing the modding, otherwise they wouldn't be mods they'd just be game features.

This is bad news for 360 people, I mean come on do you think a 360 could handle a game like Crysis on anything more than 30 fps, they will have the option to get all these great games and playing them will be an eyesore, PS3 on the other hand, well that's a different story, they could probably handle it a bit more. As a PC gamer though I think that Steams already used to much making purchases of popular games hard and this will frustrate lots of PC gamers. At least we got Blizzard with SC2 :P
