Microsoft's recent acquirement of Jenkins Software has allowed them to access the company's Rakney Tech, opening up the possibility of features previously exclusive to PC coming to the console.

The software will give Xbox 360 gamers and developers the opportunity to make use of Steam integrations in future releases.

Steam is also being integrated into Sony's PlayStation 3, enabling users to make use of a few of Steam's services such as cloud storage, cross platform-chat and more.

The key features which Xbox 360 gamers can expect are as follows:

• Lobby and room matchmaking
• Network address traversal connectivit
• Use of Steam servers for forwarding traffic

The addition of this software could possibly allow Microsoft to give access to Mods and other exciting features which might be released with Valve's Portal 2 and many more titles in the future.

In Flames Much?
I doubt we see full on steam
Not even the PS3 has been given that only steam works

Also MS would have to relax alot of rules to even allowed it something that sony does not do.

Awesome if this happens. I hope this comes to PS3 too. I'm not so sure about it tho.

I defeated!
Steamworks has been confirmed on the ps3 for several months
When portal 2 gets released, steamworks will be on the ps3
Xbox has not been confirmed. Last time I checked (several months ago) Valve hated xbox and liked ps3..
If its still like that, why would xbox get it?
Probably just another one of those stupid rumours

All those features would be great.

If Xbox and PS3 had steam, could both consoles use the same servers and play together? That would be sweet.
