(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well, since the Government are so nice to us in Australia and they are giving us free Laptops, I was wondering what the Specs are Required for Running a Minecraft Server (Knowing this will be LAN Bandwidth wont be an issue)

Im looking at the Minecraft Server Application and it says 50-100MBs are being used(Thats with 0 Players online)and with a consistant feed of 63MB/s (I Suppose that depends on your processor ect,)

So, Would this be use-able with a 2GB Ram Laptop? (Know the laptop costs around $300-$500 AUD/US (Yes Aus has 101 AU->US Currency Happy) But i will hopefully update this when we get the laptops on Tuesday.

My server can run 42 people on 2GB or ram.

It's mainly the connection speed as it's about 0.25mbs per person.

Well Bandwidth wont be a problem because its Local, but how is the Game-play/fps with 2GB Ram?

If you had a spare pc at home maybe, but then it brings the issue about connection into it.

I Suppose i could hi-jack one of the 100 computers at school, or maybe get someone to run it.

Yeah that could be an option, but running a server isn't as easy as it sounds. There has to be upkeep and problems occur all the time.

If you have a lot of people on the server and something happens you have to fix it fast otherwise you will have a lot of angry people lol.

Well I used to run it on my home pc but then I got tons of traffic so someone who joined the server said he would love to host it =D.

It's been going for about 6-7 months now.
