Post: 4th Gran Turismo 5 Photomode Competition

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So it is time for the fourth Gran Turismo 5 Photo Competition! All of the entries last week were great, and I have a feeling this week's theme may turn some people away, but any pictures taken will look amazing guys, I promise.

So, the theme for this week is:

Backfire

You must capture your car in the process of down-shifting and shooting the flames out of the exhaust. Now, I know this is going to be hard to do, but keep at it, and your pictures will look amazing, I'm sure of it.

Here are some examples from GTPlanet (not from me, as I have only been able to do it once, and it wasn't the best):

So, rules are simple, the entry must be your own, there must be backfire in it. Other than that, I can't think of any other restrictions.

The prizes this week won't be as good, since the 1 million dollar limit cap, but here is what I am offering to the winner:

  • Dodge Charger Super Bee 426 Hemi '71
  • Caterham Seven Fireblade '02
  • RUF CTR2 '96

dibbs has offered the following:

I tried to get three cars that are relatively rare from the UCD that are under 1 million. The list is also smaller as now the limit is one car per console per day, so it will take as many days to send as I offer cars, and I don't wanna spend weeks sending cars.

So, get those entries in guys! Get the best backfire shot you can take, I have a feeling there will be some good entries from people this week.

I've already lost interest! I spent an hour trying to get just one picture of a backfire and mis-timed it by about 1 millionth of a second each time.
This is too time consuming and annoying without the ability for slow motion replay (Which supposed to be coming in a future update!)

lol took me over a hour to figure a way out how to get loads of flames in short amount of time. Heres a lil tutorial: When u start the race, drive about 1 min, make a high speed gear like 4th or so, then burnout etc. just try to get the engine warm. NOTE THIS IS AUTOMATIC GEARBOX...Then get to second gear with high revs and give abit of gas so it changes to 3rd gear, once it turns on 3rd gear let go of the accalator so it goes back to 2gear high revs. Keep repeating that. Every time i went from 3rd to second gear i got a flame burst, also on a straight its very easy to get few of them flames. Anyways once u get hang of it go on replay and then its just a matter of pausing etc, when u do many of these gear changes in like combo ón a straight its just a matter of time once you get the pause button at the right place Smile good luck, hope ill see more photos now. Also lucky i got this yesterday as i got YLOD today :(

Did you put that Gold Chrome I sent to you by accident to good use!?
You're the first name on the friends list and I had it sent before I realised!

Ha, it went into my collection, although you could look at that one as the one that I ended up sending to someone if you'd like lol.

LOL! I knew it would find a good home!

Since the PSN is down for maintenance I decided to have another go at getting a picture for this competition.

I finally got the game paused in exactly the right frame with a lovely backfire!
Lined up a nice angle and camera settings for the perfect picture!
Problem is, as Richard030 pointed out in another Thread, the 1.07 Update has messed with the Photo Mode!
The backfire flame was actually INSIDE the car in the finished photo!
The in game "world/car" co-ordinates seem to be a little off when it comes to Photo Mode.

Why can't Polyphony stop monkeying around! :\
