Battlefield 3 is powered by the Frostbite 2.0 Engine, and thats been the center of talk recently. Battlefield 2 was run on the Frostbite 1.5 Engine, so it was somewhat limited. Patrick Bach of DICE recently stated in a interview with Norweigan game magazine Gamer, announcing that Battlefield 3 will feature the largest maps DICE has ever made.

“The game is still early in development, but I can tell you that Battlefield 3 will have the largest maps we have ever made,” said Patrick Bach. He also added that the PC version will allow a 64 player match, with the possibility of using jets, helicopters, tanks and infantry combat on a single map. We don't have the full, juicy, details on the multiplayer just yet; however, such information is likely to be released at E3.

Do a barrel roll!
Bigger maps than BC2 and consoles don't even get 64 player matches? Doesn't sound like this is gonna work out good.

Haxor!
I don't like big maps. I tried homefront for awhile but the maps were way to big so I quit

I hope that they include some smaller maps too. I am not the biggest fan of playing on huge maps all the time Smile

Skyrim Makes Me Hard
I don't really mind because there will be vehicles, but then again they might get annoying.

Clearly Outplayed
I want to see how the use of jets will be implemented. They might be overpowered to a person with good jet flight skills.

To and fro the island.
Big maps can be a big plus, or a big problem. DICE did a great job with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in my opinion, and therefore that get some of my trust when it comes to this. Nonetheless, it's easy for big maps to make a multiplayer experience boring.

I'm not a gamer that requires constant action by any means, but when I'm in multiplayer, I expect to have some interaction with other gamers. If I'm lost at some random point in a huge map, I'm probably going to leave the lobby out of boredom.

With the addition of vehicles, which I'm sure there will be given this is a Battlefield title, that issue should be eliminated to an extent. I don't want to have to rely on vehicle transport, however, to get from point A to point B.

This news is exciting, definitely, let's just hope DICE knows what they're doing.
