Is Activision going to charge you to play online? That's what many have been wanting to know, and we've finally got the answer. You will not have to pay for online membership. It's a one-time payment system and that's just purchasing the game.

What Activision is going to ask you to pay for is a better way to connect with Call of Duty players and improve your game. This fall, Activision will launch Call of Duty: Elite. It's being developed by Beachhead, the new studio Activision announced It had formed earlier this year (although Elite has apparently been in development for two years). Elite isn't a game. It's a service meant to enrich Call of Duty's multiplayer experience.

So, you're probably wondering if Elite is free or If It will come with that rumored subscription fee. Activision says there will be some free features, but for the complete Elite experience you'll need to have a premium membership. How much will it cost? Activision Isn't saying but claims it will be "less than any comparable online entertainment service." Included in your subscription will be all future downloadable map packs. Non-subscribers will have to pay the $15 or whatever the packs cost, but subscribers get them at no extra charge.

Hopefully this is going to support other games, but It's currently being built for Modern Warfare 3, it's also reported that it will also support BlackOps. I'm wanting for this feature to spread onto the other Call of Duty as I'm aware many of us still play Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. By improving our game and the quality of the connection It'll make people play the game more as I for one, have quit because the connection Is horrible on Call of Duty, but hopefully this will be an alternative and something to look forward to!

I'm anxious to see what the additional features will be. And the thought on everyone's mind is, "What will it cost?"

That's what everyone wants to know.

Is this your first news post? Congratz Awesome face

A lot of people have been dissing this lately but honestly I can't wait for it. Sure they are just coming up with another way to make money but so far it seems pretty interesting. If I have a few extra bucks to spend then you bet I'll pay for it. No reason for everyone to start hating on it when it looks like it's going to be an OPTIONAL subscription service, they aren't forcing us to do anything.

It's so annoying how people are so angry about something they don't know about to the full extent, I mean were people THIS mad about Sony giving us PSN+? No, so why get all mad about this it's basically the SAME thing meaning they're both just optional and give us something extra, we should thank Activision for something NEW:p, people just have to calm down.... and for everyone saying they just want money, well doesn't every company want money? Believe it or not some people actually want to utilize this. I can't stress this enough; you're not forced to subscribe!!!!! and I totally agree with you ^^ All of you people who say you're going to buy Battlefield 3 instead of MW3 go ahead. Chances are if you're used to CoD you might not even like it. I like both Battlefield and Cod and I'm excited for BOTH and I think it's sort of nice to see them compete against each other....

I honestly don't see why everyone is complaining about this service. It's Activision's first attempt to provide Call of Duty users an enriched online experience, and to keep the service up, they are charging. After all, this is an optional service, you don't need it nor will it provide anybody tactical experience over you in-game. I see this as a rightful way to make some money, and to all the ignorant people, they are not charging you to go online, they are providing an optional subscription for a better online experience and a way to connect with your friends.

Everybody is like, ZOMG they are charging us for our combat record blah blah, that part is free though! Most of ELITE is free, we don't even know what we'll have to pay for yet, people take this way too seriously nobody is forcing you to subscribe to this! and yea you're right about Activision trying to support the online experience and make it somewhat better.

To and fro the island.
I love all the hate this is getting. It's not as though you now have to pay more to enjoy the experience you've come to know and love over the past few years. Instead, Activision has decided to add in more content, and has put a monthly fee on that new content. There's nothing wrong with this whatsoever, and hey, if you don't want it, don't buy it. Simple!
