Is Activision going to charge you to play online? That's what many have been wanting to know, and we've finally got the answer. You will not have to pay for online membership. It's a one-time payment system and that's just purchasing the game.

What Activision is going to ask you to pay for is a better way to connect with Call of Duty players and improve your game. This fall, Activision will launch Call of Duty: Elite. It's being developed by Beachhead, the new studio Activision announced It had formed earlier this year (although Elite has apparently been in development for two years). Elite isn't a game. It's a service meant to enrich Call of Duty's multiplayer experience.

So, you're probably wondering if Elite is free or If It will come with that rumored subscription fee. Activision says there will be some free features, but for the complete Elite experience you'll need to have a premium membership. How much will it cost? Activision Isn't saying but claims it will be "less than any comparable online entertainment service." Included in your subscription will be all future downloadable map packs. Non-subscribers will have to pay the $15 or whatever the packs cost, but subscribers get them at no extra charge.

Hopefully this is going to support other games, but It's currently being built for Modern Warfare 3, it's also reported that it will also support BlackOps. I'm wanting for this feature to spread onto the other Call of Duty as I'm aware many of us still play Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. By improving our game and the quality of the connection It'll make people play the game more as I for one, have quit because the connection Is horrible on Call of Duty, but hopefully this will be an alternative and something to look forward to!

Wow, they want MORE $$$$$ from us.

I'm not mad though, I'll be happy if it fixes the lag and connection issues and if it makes CoD simply better, I guess they win my money.

Meh, I'm not paying. Have never bought a map pack in any CoD's. My online experience is good enough for me!

At least I can fight
This is just fuking stupid. You would think with all the technology in the world they can get rid of the lag and get better connections and give it to us for free. So basically they are going to be selling us a half done game again if you need to BUY the EXTRA stuff to COMPLETE the cod experience. It's not like they are the highest grossing platform game company or anything -____-

wow I know news team are allowed to repost but I have seen this so many times on here. Like 6 threads in mw3 section.
Tbh should have picked a different un posted first thread but oh well :y:

Everyone is like, omg making more money from us. If they wanted to make more money they would make it compulsory to pay for online, like DC universe. But they are making online play free, they are adding a kind of "bonus pack"

Wow, What happened to free online gaming? For us PS3 users we already had to buy our PS3 systems then buy MW3 and then pay even more just to actually play online, Oh and nvm the cost of Internet! Smh...

News Flash! Every business is in it for the money. How can you fault them for using the
system to their advantage and then use the google search engine?
It seems to be a good service and figuring maybe 5-6 dollars a month, or $60-72 a year,
if you get the map packs included, which would be maybe 2 a year, the cost of the service
would be significantly more attractive. And I have a feeling that might be the case. We'll
know more when people start getting accepted to the beta program, but it seems kind of
interesting. If it isn't your cup of tea then whatever, but I wouldn't fault them for
offering something like this.
And if the two franchises are kind of battling each other then this is only a good thing as
competition only makes both parties better. Hell the different COD teams even try to
one-up each other.

I'd also like to point out the fact that XBOX charging you for network is mandatory while
this is an option. Sucks for COD players on m$ though. Its going to have much less people
from the XBOX than the PS3 because of the added charge.

So basically they are going to make you pay 20$ a month for better servers that should be implemented into the game anyway and then throw in the occasional map pack so you don't feel like a complete retard. Wooooo :carling:
