Now this news comes as only a rumor to be sure. I cannot stress how much so it is a rumor, because no one has sited a source. All of this is speculation based upon the current state of the world market and the price drops that Sony has made in the past. Nonetheless all of the gaming sites have blown up with this story.

It is rumored that this August at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Sony will be announcing a European price cut for it's PS3 console. The price cut is rumored to be dropping from £255 to a much more affordable £179.99.

This would correlate to a price drop of around $50 to $100 dollars on US markets, meaning there would be a significant drop from the current $299.

I think they'll drop around October-December time because it will get people on PS3 and buy the games like BF3 and MW3 also, it will be around Christmas time so more poeple will buy their kids them as great Christmas presents

um, a price doesnt change the ability to hack a console anymore than if it was the same price as it is now. the ONLY possible idea that it could be hacked easier with a price drop, is more people would get their hands on it(possibly)...but realistically...out of all the MILLIONS of ps3 users...how many actually know how to hack the PS3..im not talking hackers in general, cuz they know computers..im talking about the ones JUST hacking ps3.....i guarantee, not even .25% of the ps3 population know wtf they are doing when it comes to ps3 hacking...so chances are slim that itll be even more hackable after a price drop..

it will be..in 4 years or so...right now slim ps(2)s are selling at gamestop for 119$...LOL..at least here in michigan they are.
