Here is something I would recommend all of you 64-bit users to do, as it will increase the gaming performance in Minecraft. Almost all of the people running Windows 64-bit, also run Java 32-bit, which is not optimized their system. To check this you have to open Minecraft and go to Task manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), and then click on the tab named "Processes". There you will find a process named javaw.exe. If you see the characters "*32" after the process, it means that you run the 32-bit version.

To fix this you simply have to download Java 64-bit from You must login or register to view this content. and install it. Now open Minecraft.

Congratulations! You're now running Minecraft in 64-bit. Enjoy higher FPS!

Oh, I forgot virus-scan. It's a trusted source, but anyways, here it is: You must login or register to view this content.

Let me show you a few things.

Here it says that I'm running a 64-bit computer.
You must login or register to view this content.

Here it shows that minecraft is using the 32-bit version of java.
You must login or register to view this content.

And here it's saying that the 64-bit version of java is already installed.
You must login or register to view this content.

So why can't I run minecraft in 64-bit?

Don't steal :( Notch worked hard to make this game. It only cost like $15.

Is it really that hard to earn $15?

OK, I'll give you another method.

1. Install Java 64-bit (as you have)

2. Download You must login or register to view this content.. (another version of Minecraft)

3. Make a shortcut to the file on the desktop.

4. Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties.

5. In the "Target"-box write
    "c:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame

6. Press OK and click on the shortcut. A black cmd-box will appear (just minimize that), followed by the Minecraft-box.

I hope that works

++ If you want the Minecraft icon back, right-click on the shortcut > Properties > Shortcut > Change icon > Browse... > Select the Minecraft.EXE-file > OK

Now it just says Java.exe

I'm still averaging about 20 fps second though :( Do you know any other methods to increase the fps?
