(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well, since i have unlocked everything for the jets I thought I would make a guide to help newcomers to the seriers and jets. Feel free to quote me if you have any questions. Smile

The machine gun: This is the best weapons for air to air combat. I know it is a pain in the ass at first, but once you get to understand the physics of the bulets from the gun, it gets easy. If you are having problems with air to air with the MG, just get up real close behind the enemy fighter, the line up your shots using your tracers. Once you under stand hownto control you jet better buy shifting speeds with the afterburner and using your rudders, ailerons, and elevator, it will be way easier to follow your enemys and get them off your tail. Trust me, this beat using AAM missles and keep missing cause of enemy flares.

Stealth: This makes it take longer for enemys to lock on to you and if you get spotted it keep you revealved on the enemy map for a shorter time, not really that good because if you are using flares they reload fast enough.

IR Flares: shoots out flares from the back of you jet, it redirects in flight missles away form you aircraft. It does not make you enemy who is locking on to you to lock on to your flares ( with usally happens in real life ) so use the flares after the missle in in flight. This unlocks is a needed if you want to fly because you get locked on alot in the sky, re-load time is around 6 seconds.

Heatseekers(AAM): gives you two missles ( which reload so you have a unlimited amount ) which can lock on to enemy helicopters and jet. in my opinion it is a waste of an unlock, the enemy will keep popping flares and it is a pain in the ass to get a missle to hit. Plus this unlock takes up your weapon slot which could be used for better things. get good with your MG and you be set.

Belt speed: Makes it so your MG cools down faster after it overheads, kinda useless because it cools down fast enough already, if you ever even do overheat it which rarely happens if you control your bursts.

Proximity Scan: All this does scan aroudn you plane and show enemys outside your aircraft, the scan range is so small it is useless.

Rockets: These are the exact same rockets as the helicopters have, not that good, but if you come down 45 degrees and a spotted tank you can destroy it with 12 missles. These are kinda hard to use.

Air Radar: enlarges your minimap scale and shows all friendly and enemy planes, this is very useful so you dont always have to look over your shoulder for enemy aircraft. I highly recommend using this.

Below rader: Its a passive upgrade, it make it harder for enemy sams to lock on to you, if your flying llow

Extinguisher: If your jet health lowers below 50% ( which disables it ) this upgrade fixes it back up to 58%, this is not bad but it takes up you flares slot and you should always use flares over this.

Maintenance: It just auto fixes your jet faster, kinda useless because the auto fix is fast enough already and jets dont get get hit alot anyways.

Guided Missles (ATG): When equiped you zoom in about 6x and you can lock on to ground vehicles and shoot one missle at them, then you must reload. It take 1 hit to disable a car and 2 to disable a tank ( well, kinda. After you hit it with your first missle just light it up with your MG and you will disable it with out having to come around and having ot hit it again. ) This is also very good for spotting if you just want to be more of a recon then and offensive asset. If you want to kill those pesky snipers ( or any infanty running around ) just spot them the the ATG then switch to your MG and gun them down.

Beam Scanning: Just makes your lock ons lock on faster, kinda useless since you can lock fast enough already with you ATG missles. This is only Good with you are to lazy to use you MG and you would rather use AAM for air to air combat.

ECM Jammer: I think this is broken, but Its suppose to put alot of false targets on the enemy radar when released( in real life ) but I am not sure about in the game. In the game I think it is suppose to break the enemys lock on if he is trying to lock on to you ( but not re direct an inflight missle ). It does not seem to always to always break the enemys lock. It also take 10 seconds to reload as opposed to flares which are 6 seconds I would rather use flares.

My recommened set up

Air Radar w/ Below Radar
Guided Missles
Flares

I spent alot a time on this guide, so I hope I helped Smile. Please ask me any questions as I have my private pilots liscense and have over 25+ hours in the jet in the game.

alos, the ecm jammer works only if the chaff is blocking the view between your aircraft and the object that is trying to lockmonnto you, so it is still pretty bad.

You talkin to me?
There are a couple mistakes:

1) Below Radar reduces your heat signature when you fly close the ground, making it harder for enemies to lock on to you.
2) ECM jammer prevents enemies from locking on to you for 5 seconds, has a 10 second cooldown, and does not stop missiles that are in-flight from hitting you.

By the way; everyone says the heat-seekers are a waste of a weapon since you have the machine gun. Truth is: it isn't. If you add them with the Beam Scanning upgrade, you can lock on to an enemy within 2 seconds. That is a significant improvement if they are constantly trying to evade you, it also means you don't have to wait for the missiles to lock on--but for the missiles to reload. So what if the enemy rapes their Flare button, if you keep on them you can fire a second set of missiles before their flares reload. Heat-seekers aren't a waste, as they provide long-range distance between you and your enemy which can help if that enemy is too far to use your machine gun. Beam scanning isn't for the lazy, it's for the people who earned it by having to try and get a lock on an enemy who is flying like they are in an air show. I watch people who only use the machine gun and they get on average 5 kills and 3 deaths a game, and I average on 7 kills and 1 death a game using Heat-Seekers, IR Flares, and Beam Scanning.

1) I am pretty sure your wrong, I got my conclusion from playing the game. There is no 'in stone' writing that says what it is for. I would be happy to see proof from you though.

2) You just got that from the in game description. I also did say that it does not stop in flight missle (read much?), But from my personel experience it does not always break the enemies lock.

3) You can waste air rader ( which shows all enemy vehicles ) for beam scanning, and guided missles for AAM. but then that limits you to just air to air, then you cant take on land vehicles.

OT: listen to who you want, I have two service stars in jets. I am telling you dont need to waste your weapon slots for things the MG can do.

1) That's the description from in-game when you unlock Below Radar... so I'm pretty sure that's considered "in-stone", and obviously I'm not the only person who says so: You must login or register to view this content.

2) Of course I just took the description from the game, because that's what it does... It doesn't say it will break an enemy lock, only prevent them (as in if someone tries to lock onto you AFTER you use it)

3) Some people only focus on air combat. Even then, you can still use the machine gun and fly really low to take out ground enemies...

Think what you want but I am telling you that you aren't limited to just air-air combat when you equip heat-seekers.
