There's a somewhat truth in that.
I really struggled at first, but once I crashed into a helicopter, I unlocked flares. Then I was able to practice without getting shot down in the first 30seconds.
Now I'm the guy that shoots the enemies' jets before they even reach lift off.

Easiest way to kill jets is using the main cannon onboard, heatseekers are useless because most people use flares so I use rocket pods and if they come face at me I use them, then use the main cannon to kill them.

And Astronaut is right, my brother got flares like that too.

I changed my stick layout to Legacy, it was closest to what I was used to flying on previous games like BFBC2, and I got it in no time. You'll get it with practice, I was terrbile in my first few days. And Heatseekers are still useful for Helicopters and even other jets, I got a four killstreak on Caspian Border yesterday in a jet using only heatseekers, the same guy without flares kept getting in the jet haha, he must of been pissed :carling:

My best tip is to learn how to let off the throttle and to slow down. Theirs to many kids that think that holding on to the accelerator throughout the whole flight is smart, It is not. Your jet automatically maintains flying speed if you don't accelerate. and decelerating is great for making sharp turns and intentionally stalling so that a jet on your tail flies past you.
