Since 2011 is now over we can look at the games which were pirated and enjoyed by many "pirates" and see the huge download totals.

In at the number one spot is:

Crysis 2

Thats right, an unfinished version of the game was leaked and pirated a month before release, however the majority of downloads in fact came after the game was launched. It managed to rack up an estimated 3,920,000 downloads on the PC and claims the number 1 spot for 2011.

In second place and no surprise came Modern Warfare 3 after an employee stole a copy from a shipping warehouse in California, and posted it online. It managed to gather 3,650,000 PC downloads, however if we take into account multiple platforms xbox had 830,000 downloads, totaling 4,480,000 which would infact have taken the number 1 position.

Here is the top 5 for each platform taken from BitTorrent Trackers:

PC


  1. Crysis 2: 3.92M
  2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: 3.65M
  3. Battlefield3: 3.51M
  4. FIFA 12: 3.39M
  5. Portal 2: 3.24M


Xbox 360


  1. Gears of War 3: 0.89M
  2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: 0.83M
  3. Battlefield 3: 0.76M
  4. Forza Motorsport 4: 0.72M
  5. Kinect Sports: Season Two: 0.69M



Wii


  1. Super Mario Galaxy 2: 1.28M
  2. Mario Sports Mix: 1.09M
  3. Xenoblade Chronicles: 0.95M
  4. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: 0.87M
  5. FIFA 12: 0.86M


(Super Mario Galaxy 2 has the top spot 2 years running)

Ps3 is not on this list due to the numbers of pirated games being very low compared to other consoles.

So there you have it, the list of the most pirated games of 2011. With games getting more popular and have more hype there's no doubt we will see even more pirate downloads this year as well.

People need to stop pirating. Would you go to a store and steal off the shelf? Probably not so why pirate? I work hard for my money and im glad to support an industry I've spent many years dealing with. been gaming since I was 5 and have loved it since
