(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Looks like helis may be removed from BF3 well the ones which are owned by Textron.
Textron has started a case against EA asking them to remove the helis from the game.

Textron who own Bell Helicopters is asking that all copies of it helis are removed from the game.
EA as been in talks with Textron to stop the case going to court but it broken down.

EA is hoping the First Amendment and the doctrine of nominative fair use protects them.

Bit stupid if you ask me :/
Helps your band image if people know about your products. Also it not a full copy of the heli and but your take on it.
Fail to see why it a issue >_>
Lets hope SOPA does not pass cos we be seeing more cases like this

Do they really think they can win against EA? Not that EA really care, they just protect their reputation like a fiend!

Even if EA is forced to remove the specific designs of the helos in bf3, they'll just put in slightly altered designs. This won't make them take helos out altogether.

Also, I JUST watched a show last night that showed super detailed designs of the AH-1 Cobra (which is the attack chopper in bf3). The show displayed so much of the chopper that any other country could have used the info to design one for themselves. Yet this company is worried that a video game will provide an enemy country a better chance at stealing designs? It's not as if these choppers haven't been shot down behind enemy lines before. Hell even the super secret stealth chopper the US used to get Bin Laden got shot down, in his backyard!

This is just abuse of the legal system. Helicopters won't be taken out of BF3, rest assured.

EA has sought First Amendment Protection following a dispute with a helicopter maker who wants depictions of its vehicles removed from Battlefield 3 bad stupid news Gaspkay:

Am i right in saying EA should still win the dispute? It's a close copy sure, but both sides should have tight arguments resulting in stalemate. If anything the design may have to change a bit, no biggie

EDIT

I'd love to see another country design a replica heli resourced from bf3! Absolutely perfect.. apart from a cardboard engine and gold electrics :derp:

Just thinking.. Textron probably aren't doing this for money-right? If this is about the design of the heli, wouldn't it be better to settle this behind closed doors?
BTW If this escalates and ends up in the press- don't you think china is going to hear and wonder what the fuss is about AND find out anyway? They probably already know.

We all underrate china.. and they know we do..:dumb:

Sadly, this sort of thing isn't surprising anymore. Sad, but not surprising.

Hope this settles comes to nothing, for everyones sake.

If EA looses what's gonna happen? Are they gonna have a worldwide recall, cos I doubt you could remove helis with a patch... haha Smile

The helicopter be removed even if Textron wins. All they need to do is change the design SLIGHTLY and put like, "Texastron". They can't do shit about it. Similar to how Glocks were labeled "Glukes" in MW2.
