Post: [Hybrid] Changing Unpaintable car colors

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Evenin' ladies and gentlemen.

Right I got the Color Offset figured out, bar the Thumbnail. But fuck the thumbnail.
I turned a Reflex Purple GT-R '07 into a Gold Chrome.
I tried the same with the DeLorean, but to no avail. The Color Code for unpaintables must be somewhere I cannot find.
But it has been done.

Unless I'm missing something, you cannot paint the prototype red In-Game. Nor can you :

You must login or register to view this content.

Can someone help me please? If I get help, i'll share my current findings.

Yes the 5g is paintable through GT Auto, the others aren't, even with hex editing.

Do a barrel roll!
Paintable and Un-Paintable cars look to be tied to the body offset. You take an X2010 from the GT Dealership the body offset is 06 CC and is unpaintable no matter what you do. You take that same car and put the 5G X2010 07 0B body offset and it becomes a paintable car. So it seems the body code is hard wired in the game data to stay unpaintable.

Great info guys. Thanks. I tried to recreate the GTS blue/white color scheme on the original GTS but the paint code for it that is only on the SRT Vipers is the 03 ff ff ff default. Sucks since that means no blue/white GTS for me. If I had only seen this and the other thread it would have saved me and my eyes 3 days of pointless hexing....

Just a bit off topic: I see you have surmised that the body code is hard wired to stay unpaintable. I noticed the same thing with cars that cant change wheels. I put a Veyron body on a car chassis that can change rims. In GT auto it appeared as the Veyron but with no wheels. Just the brake calipers showing. I went to change wheels and it asked me If I wanted to revert back to original wheels. There were no other rims available once the Veyron body was put on. It reverted to the Veyron wheels and then I tried again to change wheels and the old familiar message about "cant change wheels" came back like it was the stock Veyron. It seems that just like the unpaintable bodies the the Veyron and other cars like it that cant change wheels, its coded to the body of that car too. No way around it just like with the unpaintables.

I am error
Its odd because the X2010's seems to default to red no matter colour you try and skin it. It must be the default colour or something. The Nissan Pace Car is another than can't be painted - it seems to have some kind of livery applied all over, a bit like the S. Vettel X2010. These must be coded differently than a regular colour "skin"

Overly Liveried cars cannot be painted. The livery IS the car.

I just tried to hex paint a Sauber C9 to burning red it didn't work. In the garage it says "burning red" for the body color but its still looks the same. It doesnt have much stickers on it so I thought it would work. nope...I will try an F2007 next

Have you tried to paint the Team Oreca Dodge Viper????

the jaguar xj220 is confirmed paintable, i altered mine to burning red and it is beautiful! there seems to be no true pattern as to what cars are paintable and to what are not. what i would suggest you do is create a backup with the original car so if your car cannot change color outwardly it wont look messed up when you go online.
