(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So ive been reading that having 2 different region discs running on your PS3 allows you to run 2 different game updates.

So for example my PAL disc could run update 2.11 and the NTSC disc could run version 2.12.

Is this confirmed?

Any more info on this situation would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I installed the game on my excisting accounts.
I didn't create new ones. And it works great.

I just gave my old (2.11) save games ridiculous amounts of money to be able to tell them apart. As Murky1 suggested.

Actually, both, I installed it in an exisitng account first, and then also in a different account with only the PAL version, I intend to go online only from the new account, my concern is to go online with the Account that has the hybrids by mistake. It work both ways, really a matter of preference. I spend much more time offline, 90% than online, my only online activity is with my league, You must login or register to view this content.

Forgive me for what might be a dump question, but does the latest version of GT (XL, or whatever it's called) have a different game data and save? Just curious is the PAL route is the only option.

No, you need to use a different format disc. PAL or NTSC. Or maybe even just a different region, I'm not 100% sure. I think both US and JP discs are NTSC, but I don't know if they would install separate GAMEDATA because they have different BLxS numbers. Best just to stick to the different format option. If you use PAL format go buy NTSC and vice vercer. Oh and buy new. It's still cheap and it supports PD and the dev of GT6 and beyond.

The goal is to have a different data game save, for that the disk have to be from a different region, there is 3 region, Asia, Europe and North America. A different version of GT5 from the same region will not work in my opinion.

It technically isn't called PAL vs NTSC but for layman's sake you can point it out as that. Not that I have two different regions of the same game but for each different region when one dumps the save game onto USB (provided that the save game isn't copy-protected) you are basically storing them in different directory/folder on the USB.

Under GT5 for Europe (which covers all of Europe plus Australia and New Zealand I think) the disc ID starts with BCES. For North America (which as far as I know covers US and Canada mainly) the disc ID starts with BCUS. Japan has their own disc ID and it starts with BCJS.

When you use a different region of the same game and when you store the save game data on PS3 and/or USB they have different disc ID and are hence treated differently even though on XMB you can clearly see (if all are on one user profile) they look the same. When you dump the save game onto USB and you are using European copy of the game it may look something like this:
PS3/SAVEDATA/BCES00569-GAME/... (replace the forward slash to backward slash if you are on DOS/Windows for instance)
For North American copy of the game it may look something like this:
PS3/SAVEDATA/BCUS98114-GAME/... (replace the forward slash to backward slash if you are on DOS/Windows for instance). See how they are stored in their own respective directories/folders for those varying disc ID? If you have both you will see that they are in their own directory/folder instead of some unified form. Its where on a computer one can see the differences.

Anyway there's interesting disc ID in games.conf if I remember correctly which exist in most GT5/PS3 game modding tools. If its not games.conf its global.conf and they are ASCII (plain text) data.

Four paragraphs to explain that, EPIC!

Takes me back to the days of socom and trying to get onto the US servers with my AUS discs, very few could do it then, seems even fewer now on PS3 for obvious reasons. I wonder if others like yourself(tux) have experimented with this especially if you have a CFW PS3.

Just received my CANADIAN copy of GT5 XL.

Ill be back on GT5 this weekend finally.

I wonder if ill be able to use my stealth and chromelines on my new account if not ill just have to update my PAL copy to 2.12 and leave this NTSC disc for 2.11 only.
