I've done a few gearbox swaps without any bouncing. All you do is swap the body of the car you are modding with the car body that has the gearbox you want, Buy the gearbox in the game and then put the original car body back on. Also works for driveline swaps and turbos on a NA car (2JZ supra powered 86 gt for example).
