Do a barrel roll!
You are very likely right - there seems to be small difference between 1.15 and 1.16. For me it's been difficult or impossible to achieve same lap times ( 1.16 ) what I did regularly with 1.15. Of course with same setup. It would be interesting to hear is there same kind of feeling among other racers.

I was wondering what's the problem and Your opinion open my eyes. The difference is very small, around 2-3sec in nurb24h. Car ZZII.

Im finding a great car for testing is the Nissan 2020 VGT or VGT with fixed tuning.

Pre 1.16 the Nissan VGT was quirky, all I could think of when driving it was "My GOD I wish they let me Tune this one" but post 1.16 Im loving it, it drives so much better carving corners.

I suggest people drive it, its a good car to feel the change

Transmission Reset BUG

ANY Max FD Flipped Tranny gearbox can get beat, & using the same end gearing based on how gearing works in GT. People are looking at gear numeric values and NOT the end result (speed at the top of each gear) because IF THEY DID they would not flip the tranny with a Maxed FD, those that have figured it out still "flip" the tranny, but not really. Max speed slider and FD are only manipulated to get a close gear set but the FD is set no higher then its going to get pulled back after the flip to essentially get the closest gears with the lowest FD value.

This is done because the max speed slider and fd together change the available gear ratio range of adjustments. The folks who are literally doing the flip by the book, max FD, then mix max speed slider etc are tuning the gears worse than if the max speed slider alone was used.

The "tranny flip' is not a glitch to PD, its PD who programmed a max speed slider in conjunction with individual gear adjusting when it should be a either or type deal. The gears getting reset after being set is the GLITCH and since we are forced to work with limited gearing range being dependent on max slider and fd, they should certainly fix this Glitch..

THANK YOU PoDi

Notice that they recognize the problem with the transmission reset and are working to fix it, kinda weird they posted the notice not long after I posted my previous post, I didn't get it early lol. I'm not surprised though as I expected a fix, lets hope the fix still comes soon and not with the April Update unless they want to drop it early month with the Bertone VGT Happy

Shhhhhhhhhhh dont tell GTP lol

What? Tuned tranny reset if you touch the FD last? Nope, only flipped tranny get reset and flipping a tranny is IMO just an easy way to generically tune gears. You can get the same end gearing or close enough it doesn't matter without flipping te gears, it just takes tuning them by speed & working with available gear ranges specific to the FD. If you didn't flip trannies before because its not anything special just generic or for whatever reason, chances are you can still tune the gears in 1.17 no problem.

Whats interesting is this really only affects flipped gears, but will the fix be

A) restoring things to how they were flips back in action

or

B) Realizing it takes a flip to cause the issue they are aware of the flip and the fix just prevents the reset from occurring at seemingly random times when returning from the track to being instant the moment the FD is touched

I use the flip to get available gear ranges when simulating a gearbox mod done IRL, like using Porsche gears on a Bug etc. Sometimes a flip helps get the numerical gears right instead of having to recalculate the same gears by speed inside the available ranges as I don't like having to use a different FD to reach the same gearing and like to use real world available diff ratios, it gets all complicated when everything is recalculated. Plus diff gear size in GT6 play a role on performance. Its something that actually holds back the guys who flip gears from the max FD and min Max Speed Slider, but again shhhhhhh don't tell GTP that.

Hello
I'm new here, but I am very impressed by your suspension research in GT6. It's great that someone finally tried to explain how it works based on in-game coding. However I'd like to ask You a few questions:
1.

This is very interesting, and I can confirm that it's true based on testing, that I've been doing for past two months. Question I have is: how much fixed dampers and anti roll bars on stock suspension setting differ from the adjustable ones, let's say set to 1 (bound, rebound, and stabilizers)? Like average?
2. Are You really sure the toe angle, that we set in GT6 is individual for each wheel, not total? I'm asking this, because the in-game visible toe (while watching replays for example) looks more like the setting is rather for both wheels (I think). I haven't graphically measured it, but it may be possible.
3. You've established that spring rate is connected directly to the weight of the car, more specifically to the weight distribution and axle weight. I can also confirm that. When lowering front spring rate to the minimum, many cars will touch the ground during hard braking and steering at the same time. Also often wheels are touching or even penetrating the wheel arches (visible in Alfa MiTo for example). However I'd like to ask You about the calculations, and how You see them. For example:
1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 426 HEMI. Curb Weight: 1724kg. Weight Distribution: 50/50. Spring Rates F: 4,79kgf/mm R: 3.86kgf/mm
So the weight distribution is 862kg/862kg (that's quite off for a big block muscle car, but on that later on). If I change weight distribution to 55/45, maintaining the actual curb weight it will be around 948kg/776kg. Then how to calculate spring rates to make them match weight distribution?
4. Curb weight and weight distribution. That's the part where I don't agree with You 100%. In many cars in GT6, weight distribution is so much off the real values, that it can't be explained by the weight of both the driver and the gas tank. For example Ford Focus RS, which has 50/50, Callaway C12 (59/41), VW Scirocco R (53/47) and the list goes on... So maybe the weight distribution i deliberately wrong to maintain certain cars behaviour realistic? Or is it just a mistake in numbers, how do You think?
5. That's a bit different topic, but have You spotted, that many cars in GT6 have a standard fitted LSD, where in real life they haven't? Lotus Esprit was never fitted with LSD in factory for example, same goes with Alfa GT, Renault Megane Coupe 2.0 and many others, especially european cars.
Anyway, thanks for this research very much, it confirms many things i suspected in GT6 Smile
